Post subject:  Standard of refereeing

Now I have had chance to calm down. It could just as easily have been the other way round but we fans constantly and quite rightly complain about certain referees but they are all we have. At half time I commented to my friend that one of the reasons I did not buy a season ticket was that I can sometimes think i would rather stay at home than watch an inept clown spoil an excellent game of rugby. I am sure there are many who feel the same. Widnes deserved to win on Sunday as they took their chances and good luck to them in the final. Just hope whichever whistleblower gets the final if he is clueless he upsets both sets of fans.
The continued poor quality of refereeing may well make supporters keep their hand in their pocket and go and watch a game of cricket with a pint in their hand. :(

Now that you have calmed down, do you agree that Widnes were on the wrong end of some harsh / bad / absolutely wrong calls on Sunday? Both sides seemed to have arguments that they were hard done-by in calls.

I think though the standard of refereeing IS poor, it is usually poor for both sides. It's only the losers who are left feeling angry afterwards though, which is life.

Is that one of each then with no correct calls? You only had 3 penalties against you.

I'm talking about decisions which were not given.

It must be just Fax fans that missed a blatant high shot on Dodd and at least 2 on Gaskell when he was scooting. Fax lost the forward battle and the discipline, they tried to beat us out wide and also come up short on the day mostly through there own handling errors. We can talk and moan about the ref all day but we won fair and square. Prior to Sundays game i think Widnes had only won one of the previous 12 or so games that Laughton was in charge.

Strange how Leyther Matt also didnt comment on the ref and he was neutral (well a little neutral)
