Widnes Vikings' Paddy Flynn has signed a new three year contract with the Club. The 21 year old winger who joined the Club as a youngster from Thatto Heath and has come through the Academy set-up made his first team debut in 2008 and has cemented his place in the 2009 team.
Vikings' Sporting Director Terry O'Connor said "Paddy's signing shows the Club's intention for investing in its youth development.

"People within the sport have acknowledged Paddy's potential and progress in the game and within three years he could be pushing for International honours. We see this signing as an integral part of our Club's policy to recruit and develop our own stars of the future."

Head Coach Paul Cullen added, "Since my arrival at the Club, Paddy has been one of our most consistent players and has shown all the attributes of a top class player. I'm sure if he continues to work hard he will develop into a first class winger."

Flynn himself said, "I'm delighted to have signed a long term deal with the Club that will keep me here until 2012 by which time I hope we will be in Super League. The foundations of a top class team are here and I hope to play my part as we build a side to help achieve our goal."

I would hope that Michael Ostick will also be the next to sign long term.

It is great news but if he continues improving like he is I can't see him staying in this league with us. At least now if he does leave we can get money for him.

Great stuff. It's a pity Myler had to go. We're finally seeing some results in youth development.

It's often the case with wingers in regards to development as it is with props. They take a lot of time nuturing their raw skills and talent into becoming a top class player. He might just improve bit by bit in time to be a SL star in 2012.

It's good news and well deserved. Paddy will only get better and better. :D

On thread drift:
tb wrote:Tough. Conversations develop. It's their nature.

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair
with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back!

Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!
