Post subject: | my thoughts |
Iam going to bullet point my thoughts at this particular time. *paul cullen is not the man for the job he has been here a while now and there is no improvement. the man has never really achieved anything. I'm not saying this because he coached warrington, that fact does not bother me. I'd expect to see at least some improvement.. what has changed? * i want to know when are so called big players are actually going to turn up and be counted.# * 1 man rugby does not work so why do we keep trying it, and to make it worse its our backs doing all the work... where are the forwards?? and when are we actually going to start playing rugby. when we actually start passing out wide its too slow. then to make matters worse we keep giving inside ball.. * i wonder when our defense is actually going to tackle round the legs at the moment we have too many players going for big hits up top and missing. * Friday and saturday night games aren't working. I'd rather see the good old Sunday afternoon games back * I cannot get my head around the fact the team is (full time) you would not think it looking at them. * i want to know why when the opposition put a bomb in the air no widnes player looks interested in claiming the ball. often 2 or more players just watch the opposition regain the ball and score. * why cant widnes put games to bed. they take leads and cannot keep them or struggle to maintain it against decent opposition. * i want to know why the club thinks they owe certain players a living. *when are players going to start looking interested. * How much longer is all this going to last I could go on and on.. I drive to every game from ispwich, ive just got home from tonights game. Im beginning to think is it worth it all the hours in the car and petrol to watch such a mess |

I think we can gather your frustrated. Picking up on a couple of things. Cullen i believe will get it right, our attack for the first half hour tonight was very good. We had dummy runners and great angles and it was very pleasing to watch. Our defence has improved in terms of numbers in the tackle and slowing the play the ball down but one on one we are poor. We all recognise we need a big prop but this isnt Cullens fault he inherited a squad that was picked by Mccormack. I dont think any other coach we could have chose would have done a better job than Cullen, even Stankevitch was given a tough time after the defeat by Barrow. Friday night isnt as good as Sunday ill agree on that one but that again was pushed by Mccormack who wanted the extra recovery time. Im still confident when we get more numbers back we will cause some damage. Keep the faith, and i admire you for travelling from Ipswich that's a top effort. |

where have all the fans gone? Who knows? Friday night games were going to bring in hundreds of armchair football fans as Friday night games clashed with nothing and would leave the weekend free for all kinds of other things. I just can't understand it! People don't seem to want to leave the comfort zone of Sunday afternoons for all sorts of reasons. We have supporters not renewing their season tickets just because they can't get to games, because they work nights or lates on Fridays or because they live miles away. What a shower eh? They should embrace the change! |

Just picking up on the Friday night thing to Doc. The atmosphere was rubbish tonight. Very very weird. It sounded like an England u16 football match at times. I think people used to look forward to their Sunday afternoons but I'm wondering whether those that can make it are particularly interested in coming to the game after finishing work? Admittedly this game was not going to be a big draw for fans but I'm hearing of more and more hardcore fans that cannot make these games. Until we are playing in SL then I can't see many new fans turning up to watch. |

Sorry but I couldn't get past the codswallop in your first paragraph. Paul Cullen has been in charge for no time at all to be judged. |

where have all the fans gone? The Friday night experience appears to have failed. |

I think Cullen is still the man, the players who are out there are not Cullen's signings. Also the Friday and Saturday nights are rubbish, it proved the Leigh game which kicked off at 3, was the highest attendence this season |

Everyone needs to back Cullen, End of the day they have just paid off SMc, No way will they pay off Cullen on a 2 year contract, On what, Im guessing 30-40k a year and then still pay another guy to coach us. The owner isnt a millionaire you know SOC desperatly needs to rethink the Sunday game day option. I beleived it was SMc that wanted Fridays, RFL said no for part time team travelling so hence some Saturdays, Cullen always coached at Wire for Sundays, Wouldnt he prefer the move back? Sure he would. Maybe when Footy season finishes in Mid may (is it?) an announcement un related of course will reveal were going back to Sundays "to see if that improves anything". I can only plan my week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday cos i havent a fookin clue when our next games coming !!! |
