Even with all my optimism I expected that we would get beat tonight. We are missing a few that could have made the difference. Never really started well, and when we did start it was far too late.

A bonus point will do at this stage and as someone has already stated at least were still top of the league.

Oh... and hats off to the t0ss pot that mouthed off face-to-face at John Duffy at the end of the match. Widnes is proud of you

Just got back now. Both teams will get better but I think we can improve a lot more...
Considering fax were full strength and are a settled side I thought we did okay. Both sides bombed chances but I think we definately contrived to lose the game.
A couple more games and I think we'll be playing to our potential.

Do you mean on the TV , that would have been Johns ex team mate and partner in crime Mick Govin

We had our 2 first choice centres and possibnle best prop out.

Goddard and Haley injured the two main Centres. Roberts is a backrower but played in the Centre role. Said, Roberts, Cherryholme, Worrincy, James and Beswick all new this year so not that settled and Govin is a new 6 for us as well. Both teams will improve heaps but both sides will know Barrow, Leigh and Fev amongst others are capable of beating Fax and Widnes if they slacken off at all.

No at the game, as they were going into the changing rooms they were metres away walking through.

John looked wound up, Mark Smith had to pull him into the "changing room". Why Duffy was singled out I don't know but it does us no favours.

Can't condone anyone for shouting things at players after that match - but I don't agree that Duffy had a good game. I mean all that possesion in the 2nd half and between Duffy, Thackeray and Webster, not one of them created anything. We got close to their line and thought we could just do inside balls to forwards to try to barge over - which failed time after time after time - although I have not seen Cullen's aftermatch comments, I believe he said we were predictable - and its not hard to see why. Only Gaskell's try actually came from a pass, with the other 2 tries coming from kicks.

IMO we didn't go to Webster enough in the 2nd half, with us continually going to Thackeray, who just doesn't seem to have the passing skills to open up defences. I think Thacks is a very dangerous runner and if you give him space he'll score tries for fun, but IMO 5 yards out and you're looking for the killer pass, Thackeray was the wrong man to go to. For whatever reason, there just didn't seem to be the same link up between the play makers and the 3/4's that we saw against Toulouse.

Ok I agree here, what I meant to say was that he wasn't to blame for us getting the defeat tonight.

We shown nothing of what we did to Toulouse last week, 5 drives and a kick wasn't getting us anywhere. How many sets of six went begging where it was a pass from dummy half and a drive? wheres the passing out wide from last week? There was no flair whatsoever, not a patch on some of the plays we have seen so far this year.

Hopefully Cullen will pick up on this and we can pick up again for next week.
