Wasn't around to witness past glories as i am only 20, but as far back as I can remember Widnes fans have always got on the players' backs. Something i feel really strongly about.
OK if there has been a on field fraud going on, ie most of 2005 season with the usual suspects such as Emelio, Craigie Wozniak and the rest of the funny farm then i do agree, fans have a right to voise their concerns and constructively critiscise the players. The odd boo etc, however there are boundaries that shouldn't be crossed which is in the best interest for all parties, ie club, sqaud and fans alike.
But I get the impression a lot of our supporters, most notably older fans feel we should be winning week in week out and have a god given right to be doing well. This is simpy not the case, the squad PC has in front of him has been inherited and there will no doubt be an exodus in the ensuing months, but in the mean time as fans of the great club/town I believe firmly it is our duty to back the club and EVERYONE associated with it. Some people expect far too much. OK fax are probably the pick of the bunch at present, but who knows we could be singing 'the times are a changing' come May or June, or even come GF time in September.
But what was eveident at Fax was; certain sections of the crowd trying to jee everyone up and sing and shout and get behind the team and will them on to win, and the over-riding majority just passive and dull.We need to lift our lads where ever we happen to be playing. If you want to boo and get on their backs at every opportunity then sit yourself down and question why you 'support' this club?
Even Cullen? sorry i can't do it, it's the ultimate insult
About abuse of the players, maybe it's unethical, but ultimately a lot of those players couldn't give a stuff about playing for Widnes they're only there for the filthy lucre, Did Thackeray care when he was helping Cas stop us in 2007? answer no, Did Webster care in 2006 when he was helping Hull Kr? Again No, so what has changed in that time? Absolutely squat all.

What you are basically saying is if any player has played for a different club and had the audacity to beat us playing for that club, we have every right to abuse him?
If I'm right in the above assumption, then the only players who are beyond reproach are the ones who have played for the club since they were 16 and never left to play against us (and believe me, some of the best homegrown players have come for plenty of unwarranted stick in the past).
Well IMO, on both counts you are very wrong.
By your reckoning we should be booing Wildbore, Mills, Hartley, Doran, Gaskell, Varkulis, TKL, Thackeray, Duffy, Webster, Gannon, Smith, Fletcher, Morrison and Bannister as I am sure most if not all of these have played in teams that have beaten Widnes in the past .
If a player comes to Widnes and plays for us, as long as he is doing his best (regardless of ability) then it is our duty to encourage and cheer for any player who pulls the shirt on his back.
The exception, as MOZ has pointed out is part of the 2005 squad.
I take your point about professionalism but we have to treat players as that. If every homegrown player played for their home town team then the likes of Leeds would have 1st team squads of around 250
They have a right to earn a crust from the game wherever they choose and are wanted.
Long gone are the days of 12 locals and a South African.
Toa Khoe Love is the biggest culprit of the lot, class player no doubt, but should we really be behind a guy who is just happy filling his pockets, especially after his behaviour following the 2007 grand final defeat, it's laughable

This is just so wrong on every level.
There is no excuse, WHATSOEVER, for directing personal abuse at players!
It is a disgusting and cowardly action carried out by brain dead morons with the IQ of an amoeba, and it is absolutely guaranteed to be counter productive.

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back! Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!
