As a young kid my first first recollection of rugby league in Hull was my dad endlessly talking about a great player called Billy Batten. He was first taken to see him at the Boulevard. when he was around 10 and subsequently became a huge fan.

The story of Billy is on the Hull webpage marking 133 years since he was born. Sufficient to say when he came to Hull they had never won a trophy and with him they won everything available including being league champions twice in succession.
