It’s a strange hiatus; there’s no rugby and we’ve sacked our head coach. Usually this would generate excitement and eagerly awaiting the next game for our useless lads to improve their performance and give us the gameplay we so desire. But no we’re just left wondering if the club will survive. I hope Pearson’s applying for the government grant to support 80% of their wages. Or are they all classed as self employed?

Talking of Andy Last after re reading some of the press since the departure of Lee Radford, the ‘love in’ from certain local players and interviews with both Last & Purtill. It’s interesting that Last has said he is a different coach to LR and will go about things differently and also Purtill mentioning small changes that they have already made. Not long before AP announced the signing of Purtill, LR was adamant he did not need any additions to the coaching staff. Add that to all the other stuff I’ve read about how LR was doing everything including things like decorating training ground etc I wonder if he just had to much control and spread himself too thinly? Instead of using Last fully as a coach and taking his and (latterly) Purtills input? Maybe he relied on his relationship with certain players too much and in trying to cover everything himself left him falling short? So far I have been impressed with what both AL & KP have said and hope they can turn round the performances of not just each individual player but the team as a whole. I think as a caretaking role AL will do a good job but as for long term my worry is history repeating itself as Agar was another highly regarded in the game, but did nothing as a Head Coach for us other than taking us backwards.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!
