He didn't say it was an excuse but it is a factor. If you have no recognised no9 for example as may be the case this week you are clearly at a disadvantage, to say otherwise is ridiculous, so to a point it is an excuse. Having players out is bad for any team, missing all your players in certain positions is a massive factor.
As far as I can tell Trinity have one recognised centre and no hooker. They are doing it tough but they won't be the first or the last, player resources are finite even at clubs like Saints.
