Top table/ The middle eights, as a system has a few problems, but it also has a spark of imagination at least keeping the Top table “teams with a chance of the play offs” intrested till the final four and the GF completion.
Jeopardy/ This part teams with their livelihood at stake, or those looking to come up and join the elite, culminating in a very stressful million pound game, were it brings the core supporters players and owners, either to their knees, or to sanctuary, rightly or wrongly Jeopardy keeps all fans gripped with anticipation.
The Doldrums/ For me the Doldrums is the failing of the system, it creates fixtures which even the most ardent fans can do without, dead rubbers, boring games, and because of circumstances makes the fan doubt his beliefs on the substance of his teams qualities, the very nature of The Doldrums is failing, we have to find a way of changing this part of the system.

I’d say i’m gripped with dread, not anticipation. Although after 4 years in row, it’s a weary kind of dread.
The ‘doldrums’ probably feel like the biggest problem to you because they’re the one Hull face currently.
In any league system with more than a handful of games, and teams of varying quality there’ll always be dead rubbers. You could just try enjoying each game as an 80 minute contest - the bigger issue is that you’re in poor form, making even that difficult.
Whatever the system, when results are disappointing, it is dispiriting.

I yearn for it, I truly do. Mid-table mediocrity and a gentle run-in to season's end. Then a few months with a little bit of hope, rather than this constant dull fear.
