Sounds like plans still being worked out on this, going for a shorter and less intense programme this year with a possible friendly in South of France. Obviously 4 players not back until January but shouldn’t be too disruptive as we’ve got a settled spine and all but Faraimo are established in the squad. I guess most teams are in a similar position in terms of World Cup availability.

Hope not, we have Huddersfield at home first!

Slightly disappointing it looks like we'll be fielding the reserves again in the pre season derby, but I guess with the games in Australia coming up it makes sense to limit time for the senior players.

So Radford has confirmed that none of our World Cup players will do the pre season games and with some players like Bowden still recovering from ops etc looks like youthful/reserve squads for the trial games. Hope Houghton's testimonial isn't as crappy as Rich Whiting's was on that basis.
Should make for a competetive game then, they might get close to us now.
Seriously though I think its the right approach. Its a long season that will feel even longer with the Aus trip thrown in. Quite happy for us to keep our powder dry for now.

I understand the rationale of risking virtually none of the first team. Just disappointing to openly chuck Houghton’s testimonial. Felt like we’d short-changed Whiting when we did similar for his.
