Ok, before I take this any further, our loss to Wigan was not down to the officials. We had enough chances, possession and territory. Our creativity needs some looking at.
That said, having watched the game back, there were three occasions where Hull were disadvantaged last night.
1. Pritchard grounds the ball short whilst being tackled by Bateman and another defender. He does not knock on but Tomkins (3rd man in) end up taking the ball off Pritchard. Why was this not. Ball steal?
2. Bowden whilst facing his own line and being tackled by two defenders has the ball patted out of his grasp by Farrell. This was a clear ball steal. Decision given was. Wigan knock on. Why was this not a penalty?
3. Hadley is on my he end of a big shot, knocks on in the process but clearly has his hand on the ball when his is on the floor. Gelling then takes it from his grasp whilst the original tackler is still involved. I thought that if the player knocking on regathers possession that stops play and play should restart with a scrum?
Again, for clarity , I do not blame the officials for hulls loss, but if the on field decisions were correct I must have a misunderstanding of the rules.

You are correct in all three of your assumptions. In those cases, they could have been ball steals. You could maybe say Pritchards was a knock on, but the restart should have been a scrum (can't remember how it was restarted).
In collision, it is sometimes down to gut instinct.
