Hull Fc 2016. The team that delivered a long cherished dream for the faithful.

The question now is where does this team stand in our history?

In terms of post-war Rugby, we have probably had 4 Great/Decent sides. 1955-60, 1979-85, 1989-91 and 2004-07.

Comparing teams & players from different eras is, ultimately, a pointless exercise as times, methods and attitudes change, but it is something we as fans love to indulge in.

So, where does this team of ours stand in the pantheon? Obviously, those other sides where successful over a longer period and we have no idea of where this current side will take us.

The one constant that tends to run through successful Hull Fc sides is a big strong powerful front six and once more this is the case with the 2016 vintage.

Of course, our current side has the one thing that has eluded all others, the so longed for Wembley win and that alone makes them immortals in our history.

Let's hope that this squad is the opening salvo for a sustained period of success which will leave us in no doubt that the coming years will be unquestionably the greatest ever period in our long history.

I still think we need another half back. carlos doesn't have a kicking game which means the ball will invariably go to sneyd so makes it easier for the opposition. With michaels and likely yeaman leaving the transition will also potentially leave us a bit weaker defensively with griffin and naughton (?) replacing them.

.... if ever there was an incentive for Abdull to sort himself out fitness-wise, then yesterday's game was surely it.

In an ideal world is sign a 6, but to do that we would have to sacrifice our squad depth.

Also I'm not sure the there or has been anyone of good enough quality to sign.

And lastly we are top of the league and have just won the cup with our current halfs, agree with the poster above, but incentive for Abdul next year.

But we have a kicker out of dummy half in Houghton that most don't. Carlos wasn't required to kick yesterday. Sneyds were pretty successful -2 tries. A whisker from another and one 40.20
1 time I did notice carlos kick it was a pearler that they had to take from behind their try line

Defensively we'll probably lose a few % between yeaman n michaels
But think we'll gain more attack wise to come out slightly up overall

Am really hopeful tuime or Abdull kick on next year. I think maybe both yeamo and Michaels will go next year and bringing Griffin and naughton Lancaster in will bring us pace something apart from shaul we are missing

I like Tuimavave but its clear to me and i have said it before he is not the 6 to take this team to the next level.
Radford was correct to identify him as a centre and given his much improved defence i think its his best position.
I still think the club will bring in a 6 for next season and i hope we keep Fonua at centre where he his is much more involved than on the wing.
