Blimey - the time has come.
I am reading the paper copy of last night's HDM. Next to the Adrian Durham article being discussed on the other thread there is a second piece entitled "I always wanted to write Cooke's autobiography" by Durham.
He says he and Cooke have been working on this for some time and they agreed it was a goer several years ago, but were unable to proceed at that point for "a number of reasons".
Can't link to the article as it's not online but here's a couple of quotes:
"It's been very emotional so far and I've had to shut my computer down and just go to bed to sleep on things because the information has been so heavy.
Sometimes I've struggled to come to terms with stuff he's confessing because it's stuff that's had an inpact on me personally."
"It is Paul's side of things of course, it's his autobiography after all, but we both felt it was important that others had their say, good or bad. There will always be a few readers who can't handle the truth, but that's what it will be - the truth.
I hated the move as he was my favourite player and I didn't want him to go, and I certainly didn't want him to go to Rovers. I'm still not happy with it, but even when it happened I always realised there was more to it than met the eye."
The book is expected to be out later this year.
