Review of provision for Disabled supporters, doesn't mention parking specifically but maybe Hull White Star can take the opportunity to raise the question. There clearly aren't enough spaces for disabled fans at the moment. The Council should really be telling the SMC that a minimum % of the total capacity should be allocated. They should also be free, it's still a Council Car Park so blue badge holders should be able to park in the same way as they can in towns and cities.
Technically all wheelchair fans should be sat in a wheelchair space (ie around the bottom of the stands or in the designated wheelchair platforms in the stands) and ambulent disabled should be sat the row in front of the disabled platforms for evacuation purposes, but obviously this isn't always the case. I am ambulent disabled but don't sit where the SMC would like me to sit. As for the car parking, the Council don't need to tell the SMC about the minimum percentage, they already know and its adhered to, in fact the club provide over the national % but we have to buy these spaces from the SMC and thats why we are charged a nominal fee for the season to cover those costs.
I don't know where you'd stand on stating its a Council Car Park to be honest. The hospitals in the area are technically public spaces but you still have to pay (disabled not included) and they have a private company patrolling the car parks. If we were to use your idea about parking the same in towns and cities, that would be on a first come, first serve basis for the spaces and that would cause a lot of chaos and arguments so we are correct in doing it the way we do.
I've noticed since the new safety officer has come on board, things have been tightened up and rules strictly adhered to like waiting exactly 15 minutes at the end of a game to be able to move around the bowl, its always been 15 minutes and 45 minutes before kick off to be in your bay, but we had a bit of leeway before but its been strictly adhered to now to the minute and some fans are not used to it.
