And this is where the restrictions of the salary cap come into play to the detriment of player welfare IMHO.
Clubs have to resort to either playing youngsters with not much first team experience because most of the salary cap is used on a fairly narrow band of top end players and a (relatively) shoe string back up squad.
If you have half a dozen injuries at once in crucial positions you're more likely to force/coerce/blackmail your better/higher paid players into playing when they really are not fit and susceptible to further short term injury or even worse because of the desire for success at all costs.
