Quote:FORMER Gold Coast wonderkid Jordan Rankin says he’s ready to return to the NRL after overcoming the mental weights which have bogged down his promising career.
Rankin’s name was etched in rugby league history when in 2008 he became the third youngest first grade debutant ever after ex-Titans coach John Cartwright thrust him into the NRL aged just 16 years and 238 days.
He was supposed to develop into one of the greatest Gold Coast league products ever. The Palm Beach Currumbin student was destined for big things.
But the fairytale didn’t pan out.
Rankin played just 17 NRL matches in six seasons at the Titans, eventually seeking a release to join Hull FC in the English Super League where his road to redemption started.
He managed 22 appearances for Hull last year, scoring nine tries and setting up 13 in an encouraging season which saw him feature mainly at halfback and five-eighth.
Aged 23, Rankin has been earmarked as a fullback this season and believes he’s ready to make the trip back to where it all began.

Not sure why we have offered him a 3 year deal, not sure he has proved his is consistently good enough for that length of a deal, we have Shaul, Naughton, Abdul and HTW coming through in the positions he plays. Personally I'd wait and see how he goes and if he plays in the 17 regularly before offering him a one year extension.

Just said same elsewhere. Based on this I'd take the offer back off the table and put the money to use elsewhere. Id put it towards tying down micky P n thompson for a start

Speaking in an Australian newspaper interview with the Gold Coast Bulletin, both Rankin and his agent Tas Bartlett confirm the Black and Whites are trying to keep the 23-year-old on a long-term deal

I think he's great. Never seen him have a less than 7/10 game for us. Impact n break/try scoring threat from a prop. Very unique n don't think Radford's received enough credit for what's been achieved with thompson
