Dave Burns little tirade against us was bang out of order last night. He was on a mission to whip listeners up into a frenzy and succeeded.
He invited people to call/text/e-mail their thoughts about the domestic violence campaign we are supporting together with our signing of Stuart Reardon, obviously oblivious to all the facts.
Even later when Craig Murdoch and Gwillym Lloyd pointed out that there was an article in Friday's programme (which would surely have had to be proof read etc. well before Reardon was even released from Warrington) saying that it was aimed at the perpetrators, he said that he didn't believe it wasn't all pre-meditated, ranting on about the timing of the announcement. All this regardless of the fact that Reardon was only released by Warrington on Monday, we didn't announce his signing until Saturday and our involvement in the campaign will have been organised long before.
He then went on to compare us to backing an anti-drugs campaign with Pete Doherty as spokesman and suggested us running out to "Smack My B*tch Up".
Had to laugh at the Rovers fan Christine though. "If I were a victim of domestic violence I'd see this as a smack in the face"

First of all, I think that men being violent against women is disgusting.
That said, I think violence against anyone is disgusting.
Why do we make this more of an issue, then men being violent to men, or women being violent to women, or even (and it does happen) women being violent to men?
If we are to take a moral high ground, should it not be against violence full stop.
Is it less immoral if the victim is a man?

That's a very good point you make there, it does kind of count out a lot more of our team then just the one though!
