Disagree with this personally. Houghton can still cut it at this level and being able to adequately replace him isn't a done deal by any means. If we can find a medium/long term replacement of comparable quality then fine but I think he can still provide value for another year at least.
I'm not against giving Houghton a reduced 1 year deal, as a bench Hooker to spell the loose forward or Lovodua, and then look to introduce Balmforth into the first team squad.

Hodgson had the guts to move on Fonua and Sneyd in the off season, we should do the same with Houghton. Plus the others you've mentioned.
I'm unsure on Gale, I'd think I'd keep him and can sign a utility half/hooker from aus/uk
I'd be tempted to look for another middle too, and use Lane at back row nest season. Herman Esse'Esse is playing well in the Q Cup but isn't getting any game time for the GC Titans.
As much as I like Mitch, I'd contemplate releasing him too. We need a bit more flair and pace in the backline either Jack Broadbent or Tee Ritson could fit the bill. Particularly Broadbent he's young and can play 1-5, this would allow us to push Griffin to SR or Jake to the halves if we needed.
Let's say Trueman and Mellor have signed. I'd still like us to bring in another 2-3 players to come into the 17
Tee Ritson does look like he d be a decent low risk investment. What's the situation with Broadbent at Leeds? I think Trueman will give us good support play from 6 and chip in with alot more games played, assists and tries then Reynolds, I think hed go well with Connor.
It's the organising 7 I'm worried about, I'm intrigued to see if Gale gets to grips with it this Friday. As I'm still not convinced about how we play and the structure of the sets at times, and Gale was meant to come in to remedy that. I'd also say if we started Lovodua at Hooker that'd go some way to helping too. Kodi Nikorima has been mentioned who's coach doesn't seem to fancy him currently, 28 years of age and would be a good signing for the 7 role.

Leeds have a number of younger backs coming though the ranks, Broadbent is stalling on a new deal.
If we we're to get one of the Nikorimas it'd be Jayden who's more of a hooker, but can cover 7. He spent a few years out of first grade due to off field issues but he's worked his backside off and been given a 12 month deal by Melbourne. I'd imagine Kodi would want too much money.
I mentioned Brandon Wakeham before who's a half. Only 23, looked lively for Fiji and does well in NSW cup.

I've just read an article talking about the situation, bit si ilar to when Corey Hall went to Wakefield, now I've read that I think it'd be shrewd by us signing Broadbent, although Hodgson may think it'd be overkill with us having Wynne, Scott and Ferreria, I think we l make the 1 over seas signing just to try and boost pass sales.
Read abit more about Kodi Nikorima and seems the Warriors are happy to contribute towards his wages should he find a new club, watched some more highlights and definitely looks as though he d do a good job at 7.
Question is can we afford an overseas player. As he's one of there highest earners.
I think if we do sign any, itl be another Lovodua type rather than an established player over there
