I was referring to the statistics and facts that are readily available, to anyone with an internet connection, and which show that the virus isn't as deadly as first thought. I'll give you one STAT for starters. Up to the 31st July this year, there had only been 300 deaths recorded of a person under 60 years of age, from/with Covid, when no other condition/co-morbidity was present. So the FACT is that a healthy person who catches the virus is very unlikely to die from/with it..
Thanks for the information. Please give me the link to the source of your stat so that I can judge for myself if I believe it to be a fact.

[quote="ccs"]And what might that number have been if no preventative measures had been taken (which you appear to be supporting)?[/quote I absolutely support the initial measures that have been taken and fully understand the reasons for them. What I now think, based on the facts and figures, is slightly different. Also to state that it could have been worse if we hadn't done X or Y, is open to debate, given the Swedish model of dealing with it, ie no lockdown and similar statistics.

Completely irrelevant, you’re missing the point. Whether he was fine before, or not, he shouldn’t have been anywhere near any Hull FC player or staff for two weeks. Pangai Jr was sacked for getting a haircut yet we have Swift going to about as high risk a place as you could go to and turning up for training. If Swift has turned up with symptoms then he should be sacked because that goes beyond displaying a lack of common sense and would be a breach of government guidelines.

That link should lead you to a document which has a more updated version of the data, for deaths in hospital.

The whole thing, worldwide, is somewhat of a fudge. Be interesting to see comparable figures for alcoholism and smoking and road accidents.
That is not true. The following is included in the instructions to doctors about completing a death certificate.
“ You should also enter any other diseases, injuries, conditions, or events that contributed to the death, but were not part of the direct sequence, in part two of the certificate. The conditions mentioned in part two must be known or suspected to have contributed to the death, not merely be other conditions which were present at the time.”
The only reason therefore that Covid would appear on the DC if it was considered to have played a part in the accident.

Yes it does, but they are verifiable statistics are they not, and now you're being pedantic. Those statistics highlight that the virus is not as dangerous as first thought and as someone else has said, amongst those that did or didn't die in hospital because they had had a positive test in the previous 28 days it goes on the covid stats, regardless of whether they had recovered from it.

If you look on https://www.worldometers.info/ When I checked at 1553hrs. today, there had been 9,070 deaths, worldwide, TODAY, caused by smoking and just shy of 2,000 worldwide from Coronavirus.

Makes you wonder how easily transmitted the virus actually is, no Salford players have caught it so far!! Which seems strange considering the psychical contact of the game
