I imagne most of those saying selling Lineham is a mistake (Seb a couple of comments up, for instance & Ian P elsewhere) are the same ones who've publically turned there back on the club. A little ironic really.
Picking out 2 forum posters who do not go to games and also happen to think selling Lineham is a mistake as the yardstick is a bit far fetched.

No you don't go at all and you keep your money or spend it on something else.
I struggle with the idea that a rugby club can serve up tripe year after year and the supporters are just supposed to keep quiet and keep shelling out their hard earned dosh and that any financial problems experienced by a club are the supporters' fault for not backing them.
No other business would expect its customers to keep on buying an inferior product or service.

I didn't say that was the yardstick at all. I think the general yardstick would be "disappointed to see him go, but we've got a decent fee out of it".
I said it was ironic that those most vocal about him leaving and blaming the club are those fans who don't go anymore.

Hull FC are a sports club, not a typical business.
The club have supporters (you say that yourself, twice), not customers. There's a huge difference.
Nobody has ever said fans should "keep quiet". But turning your back on them and still expecting them to operate financially at the same level is ridiculous.

I think it is a good deal personally, however it stops being a good deal if we start shipping out more of our 'better' players.

Where have I turned my back on the club ???
I have stated next season I will be going back to games I choose to go, when you remember the club left me not able to go in the switch to Fridays. I am simply returning and with different priorities developing within my family things have to change end off.
I have never stated selling Lineham is bad either, its good business when a club comes in and offers money ............
now get a life
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.;

So supporters who buy passes, match tickets or merchandise from the club are not customers of a business? Seriously?
The club is having to cut costs because it is a business and there must be some correlation between income and expenditure.
If some supporters/customers are turning their back on the club/business its because they are unhappy with the standard of the product or service. The way to win them back is to improve that service, not just to appeal to their loyalty.
I'm not expecting the club to operate at the same financial level on reduced income, but I think its wrong to blame the supporters for the reduced income without looking at why some are staying away.
