A good sensible post. Players perform and the crowds respond.

HFC Boy wrote:My point is an atmosphere can be created . Just Hull FC fans are not good at creating one at the KC . The support at Cas was as it should be . The Black and White clan at away games are massed together.
At the KC they are spread around the Stadium . It takes for Hull FC to take the lead at the KC before most fans stop moaning , and start supporting!!
The KC could , and should be able to create an atmosphere. In reality it doesn't .
At home we need to up our game , on and off the pitch !!

The size of the KC and it being an all-seater doesn't help matters obviously, but we have had good atmospheres at the KC in the past. The problem these days is fans morale is about as low as it can go, and many are going out of sheer loyalty rather than because they enjoy it. There have also been far too many times over the last 7 years where the team have simply not showed up, or farcically fallen apart (such as Leeds the other week) which deflates the atmosphere.

I think the lack of atmosphere at the moment is due to nervousness and fear about how the team are going to perform, fans don't want to start goading the opposition when you're not sure if the team will go to sleep and concede 43 unanswered points in the 2nd half. I imagine on Thursday the home fans will be subdued and quiet unless we take a decent lead, whereas in years gone by the anti-Rovers songs would have been in full force well before kick-off.

Agree with this point

Further to this, against Catalans we scored 4 trys including just before half time and the mood was positive, then we conceded a farcical try on the hooter and the whole mood swung the other way, we were still 2 scores ahead but it was less 'oh no' and more 'not again'

Not that old chestnut about Threepenny. The atmosphere was significantly affected post Popplewell Inquiry. Even more so when the old stand was torn down.

We've often had a good atmosphere at the KC. As has been pointed out poor form and general malaise around the club are big factors in affecting it. Having reserved seating in the East doesn't help either.

We are not the only club who's supporters create a better atmosphere away from home than at home.

Because my lad was one of the mascots for the Catalan game. I sat in the west stand instead of south. I know Catalans is always terrible for atmosphere but its a shame the 20 odd lads that were trying to create an atmosphere in east corner couldn't get together with the few singers in the south corner. There's nowt worse than a half hearted one verse of old faithful. Not blaming those people at least they encourage the team and not wait all week just to have go at the ref, coach, players, stewards, bus routes etc etc

So we have a thread that questions the ability of our coach but that drifts to the fact we have little atmosphere at home games.

First and foremost the romantic notion that the Boulevard was the most atmospheric stadium ever has to stop. Big matches yes. But not all of us stood in a wooden stand. In fact if you look at our attendances the majority didn't stand in a wooden stand. I can certainly remember days when there was less than 4000 there and it was like a library.
The atmosphere was generated by a feeling of confidence in those lucky enough to wear our famous kit. If we felt they were giving it their all for the cause then we responded. Even some of us who didn't stand in a wooden stand.

Moving back to Radford and co. We have steadily (some may say rapidly) declined since that big day in 2005 & the days when Sharpe took us on a magical road to Old Trafford. Our coaching set up since has been a joke. First Agar who simply carried on the decline. Assisted by local boys. Peter Gentle was brought in and some argue he was dire. I rather think he was setting us on the right track. 6th spot in the league and a cup final. Not too shabby.
But he was ousted for club Hull. Where has that got us? We have a coaching team now that has so little experience of the outside world. Radford may claim to know something, but he's been at the club for 8 years. Last knows very little away from HFC and Horne and Cooke (yes I include him as well as he is "developing" our dual reg players and involved in analysis) they are all Hull FC and lived through the years of decline.
The only glimmers of hope we have seen where with "outsiders" Sharp, Gentle and even Kear. Now ditched for club Hull where the personnel change but the predictable play, the apparent (at times) player power, the general dirge that we are now so used to never changes. It's time to wake up to the reasons why.
We need a complete clear out of the back room staff. This isn't Liverpools boot room of the 70s and 80s Its an inexperienced bunch of local lads who yes have the club at their heart, but they are not equipped to lead us forward.
Legends of other clubs move away to see how things operate elsewhere. Peacock (who may or may not succeed at Rovers) will bring in fresh eyes and ideas to their set up. He will learn his trade and one day end up either at Headingley or Odsal if not Red Hall. Francis Cummins do the same. Powell went round the houses before landing on his feet at Cas.
At Hull FC though I wouldn't be surprised to see Yeaman given an extension to his playing contract and a coaching deal.
It's narrow minded and doomed to failure. Until someone on the board recognises that we will be forever bottom 4 if not worse with us all just living in hope.

I've seen some on her and Twitter claim we are the most fickle fans in RL. 12000 last week says we are not. We'd have stopped attending matches long ago with the dross we have been served since 2006. We care probably more than most. Sadly though it is last chance saloon for the club and especiLly AP from here on in.

The old tribal support is evident . At Cas on Friday the support was excellent. At the KC it is souless . Against Catalan it was lunar !!
Talking to my mate last night who is a robin and he said the crowd beat Saints. You could see the fear in the Saints players .
We had that , but not now . Teams enjoy the sanitised, friendly atmosphere at the KC .
We must start to crank up the KC atmosphere. Where are our flags and banners ! Look at the Cas end on Friday , the whole top of the stand was adorned with flags and banners of support .
Let's make the KC a fortress. A few rounds of half hearted Come on you ull is not good enough !!

Oh dear, these are the sort of comments which state that certain individuals actually think the crowd makes any type of differance to the result....trust me, they dont.... dont forget a decent london team finished 3rd afew years ago averaging about 2500, whereas as poop london team finished bottom with the same average

In a nutshell...a brissie LEGEND
