That's a pretty bad case of selective memory you have there.

He did a good job, with NSW Under 18's - which is probably the main reason
St Helens recruited him. (to progress their youngsters to the next level)[/quote]
Peter Sharp did a very good job with parramatta's youngsters which is probably why we signed him!!!!!
Did we do the right thing in getting rid of him???

They were well organized, had a good structure, had a very powerful pack.

As you point out he hasn't actually won anything. Don't get me wrong I'm sure he's a good coach it's just that if/when Agar is replaced it might not be possible to replace him with a coach proven to have won things at the highest level. I'm sure that will disappoint many on here.

Our best coach since Arthur Bunting was Brian Smith and is widely regarded as one of the worlds top coaches. His silverware cupboard with all the teams he has coached is bare, although he has taken many teams to finals and improved them. But every single Hull fan would take him in an instant. Which goes to show you dont neccesary have to have won trophies as a coach to be considered a top coach.
We'll be rubbish until we have decent half backs IMO.
Whether Agar is out of his depth or not, I don't think these players are good enough to win things or even challenge the top 4. Agar definetley has done some bizzarre things like playing Moa when he first came over and then deciding he's not fit, or his lacklustre interchanges.
But is he the real problem ? I don't think so, I think with a better coach we'd still be no better off. We have no half backs and even the worlds best coach couldn't coach this lot into a great team.
The likes of Yeaman and Raynor are classy players on there day but are nothing without there star half backs. I know people will probably say its Agars job to motivate the players, its Agars job to prepare them etc. I feel that is balls myself, if a professional athlete can't motivate himself he shouldn't be in the sport. Agar can do as much preparation as he wants but when it comes to kick offs its those players who have to perform.
I personally feel we have a squad of players with no real leaders, no real professionals and no ambition. Agar will probably be the fall guy for it, its always the coaches that are. It'll be interesting to see in a years time with the arrival of players like Fitzgibbon, O Meley and Long if we are any different. Having Long will be a boost, at last a real half back at the club and a pair of forwards who don't take no poop from nobody. If they come and this time next season we are in the top 4 with Agar in charge will people be on here still claiming he is the problem or finally realise we are stuck with some very poor players with attitude problems who ATEOD just ain't good enough to be the best at this level.

This time last year we were preparing for a CC semi final against Wakey. What would happen if we were to play them this Saturday?
Last year we were in the CC final against Saints. We could have won it. This year they would rip us to shreds.
Sharp was slated for the side playing pretty much the same rugby we have this season, apart from the few games where Dykes played. Nothing changed once Agar took over, and in fact we got spanked by Wigan during his tenure.
Our defence was a little better but our attack was still woeful unless Dykes was on the pitch.
And if we were to play Wakey with Adam Dykes in the side next week then we might well pull off the same result. He was THAT influential.

Maybe not but sometimes us FC fans (me included) do take things OTT.
Its easy to say now though isn't it, considering we are still no further on from him going. Says to me thats its about time we cleared out some of these players instead of giving them contract extensions.
I'm at the stage now were im passed caring who the coach is because we'll continue to be in the same position as long as we put up with sentiment (local players), bad attitude (letting players drink and smoke) and average players (could be here all day).

To be fair Kosh I think any Scrum Half would come into this squad and look influential or a good player. Even if there rubbish.

It is also Agars job to drop these players that have no ambition or who aren't being proffesional enough.....................
I'm gonna spit all over you, by accident of course.
