A good tactic in the hot conditions I reckon.
I still dont like it, his running from acting half will cause lots of problems, but he hasnt got good enough distribution skill from acting half to play hooker IMO.
It will work Ok against PNG, but worry when we play the Aussies or NZ.
Cant work out why they took Highan rather than Diskin.

Horses for courses.
I would imagine after 25 minutes or so when the heat and pace of the game is telling bringing on reinforcements in the shape of Morley and Maurie with Burrow scooting left, right and centre the Papuans may struggle to contain us.
Would have preferred Purdham and the bench opposed to Wilkin but other then that it is a strong side.

I'm telling you. This year is different. Yes u r right about the NRL being overall better, no doubt but this year we've got the players. As long as they stay fit we'll beat the crap out of both the roos and kiwis. As for hooker just watch Newton and Roby, any aussie team would snap them up. Price at stand off, brilliant, burrows scrum half, forwards all top class, centres Gleeson/Yeaman/Senior. Full back Whelens, we will do the business.
winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11
Seems pretty good and the best they could put out within the squad.
Just wish they had taken Diskin to start, with Roby on the bench, dont like it when they put players at hooker who arent hookers, which they look like they will be doing with Mcguire.
Not sure Diskins is International class tbh. I hope Hock does not throw some of his riduclous offloads in the wrong area of the pitch. Personally I would have started with Wilkin and used Hock off the bench.

I would have had JJB in for Hock and Hock on the bench for McGuire.

Speed of the ruck late in both halfs will be the killer either way though.
Based on the conversations earlier here about Burrow and Sinfield having spells at hooker are we not guilty of doing what has cost us in the past and taking the best players and shoe horning them all into one side? I remember when we had a team full of loose forwards so one played 9, one played 6 and one played centre. Doesnt mean it will work.
I dont rate Diskin that much but would rather we had hookers playing hooker.
I wouldnt play Sinfield at hooker full stop but the subs bench indicates that he may well do that to accomodate Wilkin.
I also think that Burrows can be devastating from dummy half in an energy sapping game so like I say horses for courses. Would imagine Higham will play against the Oz and Kiwis though interchanging with Roby.

Never heard of him, is he related to Burrow from Leeds?
