The biggest statement in this is that our board has genuine ambition that matches the fans!! Thats all we ever ask of the board when they take custodianship of our club. Ellis will consolidate our pack and give us another wide running option. If as some think Tickle goes to front row - we could end up with a pack that is all capable of doing 80 minutes. In the days of reduced interchanges, that is a real plus and shows intent in how we want to play the game.

Second that, the signing of Norton in '78 transformed the club's image in the eyes of the rest of the game making it substantially easier to attract further quality players, ultimately leading to one of the club's great eras.
If nothing else, let's hope signing Ellis has the same affect on our prospects.
Like a few on here I do have a slight concern regarding salary cap space, but seeing how none of us are privy to that information, we shall trust Pearson/McCrae/Gentle to continue the revolution which is undoubtedly happening.
Exciting times ahead once more for the faithful as long as we all show just a little patience and don't expect everything to fall into place overnight.
We look as if we seriously mean business for the first time in five years.
I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

If you actually read the thread not everyone is being as u say arrogant w&nkers.
Personally not too dissapointed we didn't get him. Not a position we really need to strengthen. Would have been a bit of a luxury signing. As I Arrogantly said on the Leeds board I think it's good for SL that he hasn't gone to one of the current big 4 and that hull are not there yet even with Ellis but certainly going in the right direction for the future.
Out of interest is Manu out of contract at the end of the year?

hands off, he is as far as I know contracted and has made it know that he wants to stay at HULLFC. signing Ellis will help him make that decision,.

When a club makes a signing of a true world class player it not only makes a statement of intent that the club means business it also enables the club to make further better signings on the back of it, it reminds me of when we signed Knocker Norton, it wasn`t just the signing of Norton but the players that followed because we had signed him, hopefully the same can happen with Gareth Ellis and proper sustained success is just around the corner.

Some of the bitter Leeds fans are hilarious! Not only is this a brilliant signing in its own right but it will be further confirmation to other potential signings that we really mean business. Hopefully the "lost" fans will start to believe in the new set up now and start returning as so far they are delivering on their promises.

Some people now seem worried that this could signal the end of willie etc. but I'm kind of hoping this signing will see top class players desparate to join the revolution as we march on to World Domination.
Maybe getting a bit carried away their but you know what I mean.

It might also have the opposite. If a big club comes for him he might think he may get more game time somewhere else. Fancy a swap with hauraki?
