Can those bemoaning Brett Hodgson post who they realistically think we can appoint?

I think names like Flanagan etc are unrealistic due to the Salarys theyd command. I can't think of any proven Aussie coachs we can probably afford, so would probably have to tap into some references over there on any up and coming coachs we can afford

That's a good point, for whatever reason Pearson doesn't think Last is the right man, he will have more insight than any if us.
.We have to be realistic, as you say we arent going to get a top class NRL coach, one of the problems for me is that Last has only been at Hull, he has never experienced another club, training methods etc, someone like Hogson has a range of experience working under some top coaches, he was a very attacking player also.

I do think its strange that people who happily have Fitzgibbon but are turning there nose up at Hodgson.

I see your point but the difference is Fitzgibbon is an assistant at Sydney to probably one of the best coaches in the NRL and he is that highly thought of Fitzgibbon is tipped to take over the Sydney head coach role or land head coach role at another NRL club... Brett Hodgson has just been demoted to the pathways/development coach.

Fitzgibbon would be the only NRL assistant I would be happy with and as for people on here crying we won’t get a top Aussie coach, we are Hull FC for f*ck sake! I thought we wanted to be a top 4 club!?

We need an experienced, top quality coach. At the moment we are Lewis Hamilton driving a Fiat 500.

We cant complete the NRL, what other team has signed a top NRL coach

Saints last two coaches both assistants
Same with Leeds (Furner), Warrington and Wigan.
SL rarely get top NRL coaches, they stay in the NRL.

Hodgson is working with McGuire, he's got a pretty good pedigree with success in SLand the NRL, including grand final wins in both competitions.

I'd say he demotion is probably more to do with him applying for other jobs than his ability.

What I will say is this appointment could be one of the most important in the clubs history with the way are on and off the field. Really need to get back challenging in the next two years, we arent too far off with our squad if we could add a couple of additions.

The last part is something that has to taken into account as maybe BH had expressed an interest in the job here at Hull FC and been open with West’s. They may well have decided that they need to move forward with there plans so see BH as an unknown so have gone down a road with staff they know will 100% be there at the start of their pre season.

At the moment it’s all rumour who is or isn’t the new coach.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

An important point in appointing an Aussie/Overseas coach is that they also can bring Aussie players to the club because of the past relationship they have had working together

.... as long as they're not good mates, of course. :)

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Let's hope we get a bit more value out of a 6 than his last Aussie hero coach signed!
