He is the club's employee, if they don't want him and release him from his contract or reach a settlement agreement with him they can do as they like. Isn't that how sporting contracts usually work both ways if it suits either party (Trueman, Sutcliffe)?
If no one wants him or we don't pay him off he stays.
Common sense really I thought
At the end of the day in the sporting industry players are commodities that are bought & sold, and whilst they have a contract a club is and should be perfectly within their rights to shop a player or players around if they feel it is the best interest of the club. Its no different to a player or players that sign contracts with a club but then ask to be released to move to another club etc.
Obviously its more typical/common in other sports such as football due to the money available and player values compared to RL but the basic concept/principle remains the same.
