They all have form for it, Griffin & Taylor especially. Why on earth would we want Houghton who yes, has been an amazing servant to the club coaching when he’s played in almost every game when it’s gone Pete Tong ?
Also, no one has said it yet and I will get battered for suggesting it but I think a new defence coach should be on the shopping list ! Leaking 60 points against Salford etc sorry, but Ellis has to go too. No room left for sentiment I’m afraid.
Completely agree, there are too many players within the current squad that are there due to their past success and by past I mean 2016/17 seasons. The likes of Taylor, Houghton & Griffin seem to have the lazy attitude ingrained in them from years of poor coaching and trying to change that is just a waste of time.
The days of giving players jobs in the back room staff should also be a thing of the past and all back room positions should be offered to the best person for that role no matter. As you say as much as Ellis has been giant as a player and ambassador of the game questions need to be asked as why we are still shipping so many points against on a regular basis and why we have such a poor defensive attitude which has to be one of the most passive in SL.
Its pretty clear that attitudes of a number of players within the group can't be or even won't be changed, and yes whilst this isn't the most talented squad in the league it is certainly capable of delivering much better than it is or has done so far. Sadly the attitude towards effort, desire and intensity is just non existent and against Leigh we looked unfit.
Fed up of hearing about how the players have bought in or buying in to what TS wants as its just the same old story from the same suspects years after year, they like to talk about what they are doing or going to do but never have the metal or aptitude to carry out the talk.
My only hope is that we mirror the pain this season that the Warrington fans felt last season and reap rewards next season when TS has a mass clear out.
Lastly I also think promoting Clark from media to CEO and to seemingly involve him so heavily with player recruitment has set us back too. AP needs to take up Motu's offer of help if he hasn't already and get the clear out started (if it hasn't already) and replacements signed, sealed and announced before the club haemorrhages too many disgruntled and fans after being let down yet again.
