It seems obvious to me that the injury is more of an issue than we being told, he has been out for a very long time and I doubt he'll come back as the same player. I hope I am wrong, but sentiment should not get in the way.

I read that programme, IIRC it was worded quite carefully. It didn't actually say that staying was his first wish, just that he was easy-going and would be happy to stay. Given that the previous stance seemed to be an adamant NRL return , I wonder how much the thinking has been altered by his injuries and their possible impact on the likelihood of a decent NRL offer.

As I said earlier, the very minimum I would want from Tony is to be injury free for the remainder of the season, if he can't manage that then I would get rid.

So there's room for another 4 overseas trained so far then (allowing for Lauaki getting approved)? 2 of which will need to be non-quota, and potentially Tony on top.
Where did all the talk of 6 overseas trained come from?

I agree, although TBH I'd be inclined to replace him if a decent fullback became available anyway.
