RFL lining up Bratfud to replace Salford is my sneaky feeling for next season, if they finish top, or Toulouse.
Salford done well to keep going, but the deal they struck when moving from the willows to the new stadium was a club killer on the crowds they get, i expect the were hoping to see an increase in crowds like we did when leaving the boulevard but its never happened.

I think that is worrying for the integrity of the league, Salford will slip to the bottom while hyperthetically a club like Wigan could sign say Sneyd and Watkins just for yet more squad cover and be unbeatable.
The time to remove a club for bad finances was October when the IMG scores were done, if Salford were demoted all contract would be null and void and financial crisis over.
you have to remember it was salford that sold the dream to the RFL back in October and 'proved' they would receive income to support the 700k black hole
they are departing for Portugal on Saturday on an warm weather training camp, dont have sympathy for it, they laughed and now theyre reaping their reward

I think the RFL need to step in now. This is t a new thing, it's happened several times for Salford. Whilst I feel for the fans, the club, I don't. Someone needs to go in and say to them 'this is how much money you need to compete for the season (whatever the sum) you are currently spending 'x' amount so, so you need to offload 'x' amount to bring your costs down , you need to stay at 'x' amount of spends or lower or you'll be in financial difficulties again and should that happen you'll be out the SL
It's beyond a joke now. They're obviously spending more than they are bringing in. Its...3/4 times this has happened to them that I can remember.
I think it's time for them to play at their level, by that I mean financially.

Oh I have no sympathy for them, and quite simply they don't have enough fans. Even the Grand Final and CC final appearances and top4 finishes haven't got the turnstiles clicking.
I do have a big issue with what IMG are doing though, surely even the most basic of financial audits would have shown the numbers just weren't stacking up.
Also why not just demote them now? What's the point of them limping on for 1 more year? they already had the lowest score in SL and a poor league finish dragging down their currently good performance score will make matters worse.

A difference for us was we had a few thousand fans not going to the Boulevard due to poor facilities, poor on the field showings etc
We had already improved our performances in the last year or two at the Boulevard and there was a buzz about the team McRae was creating young players mixed with big names like Jason Smith, Ritchie Barnett Sr etc. So when we arrived at the KC there was a good feeling and better facilities meant people brought the family along.
Salford just dont have the interest in the city, I bet in workplaces across Hull yesterday you could overhear 'wow you heard about Abdull?' Even if you dont follow RL you can't ignore it here

That's also a strange one...he's announced he's going upstairs a year in advance and surely he knows the finances aren't great as he lost Croft, Ackers etc. Unless he's been completely misled too. I can't say I've ever seen or heard Salford's 'owner' they keep a low profile.

i thought their fans had a share of the club or something along those lines
from a quick google search
The Salford Red Devils also have a Community Benefit Society (CBS) where fans can buy shares in the club and elect to the CBS board. In 2023, the club raised over £300,000 through the CBS scheme
