Also remember a day in 1985, a certain Wembley date, Cas v Rovers, used to go every year with Charleston Club, there was a single ticket in the row in front of our alIotment, no body wanted it so I said I wasn’t bothered and took it. Turned out it was a row of Rovers fans, also said I wasn’t bothered who won but when Jamie Sande set off down that left hand wing, I was the only one up and shouting “Go on you little beauty” or words that effect in a row of Rovers fans. C’mon you Leythers.

Wanting the other to lose in a Cup Final has always been part of the rivalry. Can’t recall any contented Rovers fans in 1982, 2005, 2016 or 2017. Saying that, in 2016 they did have their Fun Day to enjoy, so that probably balances out all our Challenge Cup wins.

I was quite pleased for you/Hull as a city in 2005. The whole Crap Towns thing seemed to have moved from light-hearted self knowledge to external derision, so it was nice to see one of the city’s representatives achieve something positive. But, other than that, I agree.

Hopefully get beat 50 - 0 again and then go out of business on Sunday, straight after the open top bus in the pissing rain.

We were perched by this time in the Sports Bar beer garden next to Wembley Park Tube station in both '16 and '17.

Rivers pin Leigh down with a great defensive effort and Leigh are on the fifth tackle , still inside their own 40. The ball moves around their back division and finds Gareth O’brien . Still inside his own half he amazingly goes for an impossible looking one pointer . It sails home. The camera pans straight to Hudgell and Peters. There’s disbelief all around and a crane is needed for ‘ickle Mikey’s dummy. Amazingly he hasn’t knocked himself t unconscious trying to milk a penalty and the tears flow.
