I'm not convinced he has it in him to be a top SL player, he had a great chance the last few weeks to show us what he can do and I honestly can't remember him creating a chance in the last week's apart from a high bomb.
He could make a decent LF, but he is miles off the likes of Westerman
He’s hardly come into a team in good form, with teammates who look fully committed to the cause. He has to take his share of responsibility for your recent failings but it has been more poisoned chalice than great chance.
About 8 weeks ago he put in a transfer request because he wants more regular game time. That’s a reasonable aspiration for a player who turns 23 in February and is behind 3 of your most notable players, when they’re fit.
The cynic in me isn’t surprised at the timing of the media release, and I wouldn’t necessarily suggest we’re better than that. I would like to think we’re a bit more competent though. Risks of outsourcing, I suppose.

Dual reg at york.
Other than the odd bit of skill I've seen nothing from abdul to suggest he'll ever be a SL level half back. No pace whatsoever and teh only thing he really has going for him is his kicking game which is OK when he has time but miles off the likes of sneyd and gale

I see this differently, regardless of the 99% differing opinion, he’s 23 ffs, give him a break, he has been told he will be right at the bottom of the pecking order with a full squad, I don’t blame him looking to leave when he can probably get game time at other clubs.
He took a season loan and was good till he got a shocking injury, he has come back and been judged in a section of the season were ALL players playing were dire, playing in a spell of downright mediocrity, playing with a pack which was bullied by every other team, how did Sneyd do on his return in this part of the season? were was Danny Houghtons kicking game, to alleviate pressure, were was Hadley’s go forward in this period, Carlos floating around looking for interceptions and never tackling, couple that with Griffin Burrita and Tuli looking lazy erratic and uninterested in defence. Get of his back, he’s had the guts to say he wants out this team, and has probably been made the main scape goat. His talents should be judged when we have opportunity to use him as we should, as a young kid developing, not in a team which has given up.

Was it a media release?
The original story didn't quote a source or even hint at where the story came from. May have been from Abdull himself, a team mate or family member.
Smailes asked Pearson to confirm the story which he did. Doesn't really seem likely that Pearson would tip the HDM off but then say when you interview me later can you ask me about Abdull but make out I've not already told you.

wouldn't be particularly overjoyed if he signed for us, but there were a lot worse performers on the pitch against warrington than Abdul on thurs in your team from what I have seen this season you desperately need a new first choice hooker with the smurf as back up,and of course a new coach

Stand-off or centre, for me whether at Rovers or elsewhere. I don’t think he’s at a level where any SL team would guarantee him a place in their best 17, but he’d have a better chance with us than most, if we survive and continue to rebuild without bringing in more high-profile players in those positions. We’re still a good way from safe though, and might not be his first choice at the moment.
