They have the skill and the know-how. We know that because they have demonstrated that at times this season. We are falling down because of attitude, disgruntlement and personal dissatisfaction, imo. That is purely down to Radford's handling of them on a personal level."
I agree with all of that. Abdul is a nineteen year old kid just making his way in a tough adult environment who probably knows how poorly he performed and his confidence could have taken a knock as a result. Its Radfords fault if he is overweight and played out of position as they're decisions he can effect. The no comment interview reaffirms the initial question and compounds the fact with no defence or excuse offered and no protection for Abdul. Radford should acknowledge the fact he had a bad game but offer out the answer in the form of what I've heard called a sh I t sandwich when dealing with poor performance. Start with a positive address the negative but then finish on a positive. Its called basic man management skills which would do wonders in the media for the fans and in particular the player.

There's nothing wrong with being an inexperienced coach, every head coach has been one in their life. But he just shouldn't be head coach in my opinion. He should be an assistant to an experienced head coach who he can learn from.
The comments about Abdul are evidence of this. Those comments aren't helpful to anyone. They don't help the club in the media, they don't buck the team up or challenge them, they don't encourage or challenge the player and they don't make the fans feel any better. I know it's easy to come up with things to say after the event but then part of his job is to make the right comments at the right time. He should've said something along the lines of: "No Jordan didn't have his best game today. He struggled with <insert skill/part of the game here> all game but he's a great young prospect with massive potential if he works hard enough and he'll come back stronger next week."
Personally, from an outsiders point of view, it seems a big failing of the management that Radford was appointed in the first place but also that he's been kept on. He obviously isn't ready for it yet. Bring in an experienced Head Coach and demote Radford down to assistant for say 4/5 years, then bring him back.
Stupid post. What we want to do is extend his contract and merge the youth teams.

It probably wasn't malicious and it isn't the biggest concern to come out of the game, but it was an error.
As is so often the case with Hull and happens across all sport, I suspect it's probably down to the fact that when so many players perform poorly all at once it's hard to know where to start, and thoughts naturally turn to what is seen as the common denominator, the coach. It's like if one schoolchild misbehaves and doesn't learn, people complain about the child, if it's half the class or more the teacher comes under scrutiny. Doesn't mean the kids are blame-free, but the bottom line is that the teacher is there precisely to help prevent that from happening.
In this particular case someone found a poor reason to criticise the teacher by effectively being outraged on the very poorly performing child's behalf. This does actually mirror society a bit as we are becoming a nation permanently outraged on behalf of others.
It was just another stick to beat Radford with which is bizarre as there's a forest full of bigger ones after last night.

You and I appear to have quite different views on what constitutes being outraged. To me, this thread just has people saying that Radford made a mistake, handled the question badly, and it's perhaps indicative of a lack of man-management skills. Plus you suggesting he had no choice.
You're right that there are plenty of other sticks with which to beat Radford, but I don't understand why you think it matters which sticks people choose or even seem to want to pretend that people are creating this one. It might be a relatively small point, but it is a valid one.

"The comments by Radford were poor"
"I wouldn't fancy him as my boss"
It's because I don't think it's valid point at all. I would actually praise Radford for not criticising Abdull having been given a direct prompt to do so. In other words I actually think he handled it well when asked a specific question. That's where you and me differ. Not sure I can put it any clearer than that.

Not even close to outrage, IMO, merely observations.
I also don't think the fact that it could have been worse means he handled it well and is worthy of praise, either.
