Because we've needed a 7, which they are. There aren't a load surplus "world class" 7's knocking around. Those there are, are plying their trade in the top league of their profession. Until England compete regularly on the international stage, nothing will change. Even if it did, we are competing against 13 other clubs, some of which may have more appeal/money than our own club. That's how far down the pecking order we are.
Dykes was a risk, it didn't come off. Dobson was a risk due to his inexperience, at the moment it seems to be paying off.
Back in the real world, we have to recruit the best of what's available with the funds we have available at the time. That's what we have done with Thorman on a 1 year deal, should someone become available. I don't really see how the club can be criticised for that.

The same Matt Head that was signed by St George despite knowing about his problems and starting in their win against Brisbane today??
The same Dykes that got us to the Cup Final, and had he been fit for the that final, we may have sneaked it?

Irrelivent isn't it, we can only spend the cap anyway. Putting that aside, you MUST be one of the wealthiest clubs in SL, you get one of the best gates and have a top sponsorship, not to mention merchandise. If you are not in the richest three, someone wants sacking.

Let's judge at the end of the season who was the most shrewd signing. My feeling is that as the grounds get harder and attacks target Dobson you'll find why he didn't quite make it over in Oz. I also think that Thorman will improve when left in one position all season - although our tries from his kicks have been a major part of our "points for" figures already. I also think that Dobson and Cooke is an odd pairing, with both doing a similar job in many aspects of their game rather than complimenting each other's game, and it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.
Don't get me wrong, I like Dobson and would have been happy if he'd come to FC, but I rate Thorman (unlike many, I accept) a lot higher.
Based upon what evidence this year???
and based upon the fact that I would guess as a fellow FC fan you wil have seen HKR as many times as I have this year either live or on Sky????
Unless you sneak off to East Hull when FC are away???
I recal him being a great defensive player and was solid both against the Kiwis and OZ test teams and as said by KR poster was an option man in many places on the field... and to boot having chatted to him at Hudds in hospitality after the test a decent fella too..
another case of if he dont play for hull he is crap i think!!
A fit CW at centre is better than what we have presently I am afraid

Not that your posts are all inflammatory twaddle - because they're not - but is the Rovers site so dead that you'd rather talk to FC fans? Or do you get a better class of poster on here (myself excluded obviously)?

look at the Rovers site, the Sin Bin as well, I enjoy speaking to you all
If there is something of interest, I will join in, simple as that. I never knew your forum was exclusive, I always thought you were open and inviting

I accept we can only spend to the cap. Who knows, (I don't claim to) that may have been the reason we didn't get Dobson and went for Thorman. If I were to be critical of the club, I don't think we have necessarily prioritised our spending based on the needs of the squad - the need for a 7 has been obvious for years, even before Cooke went.
