I think the big difference is that Lam Snr was out of contract at the end of the year, while Jnr has instigated a contract dispute, which rarely ends in the player staying put.
I’ve no idea where he’ll be playing next year, wouldn’t surprise me if it’s Catalans, Hull or Leigh to be honest. But it’s far from certain that he’ll be staying at Leigh imo.

The rumours have all concerned Hull. I know there was mention about Cats, but nothing concrete. We've actually made an offer and a massive one at that. Sometimes money talks, his dad will know it's a short career and maybe will advise to just go for it?

Have to say I agree with you on the differences between Lam Snr & Jnr. As you say Snr was out of contract so totally different scenario to being under contract and activating a release clause and going in to a contractual dispute. Seems a very very high risk play even if his dad is the Coach just to get a better deal, as you’d normally expect behind the scenes discussion to up your deal rather than go into dispute. It could be that Degsy caves in works things out and ups the deal Lachlans on or could be Degsy stands his ground and they agree a mutual termination of contract or buy out fee of remainder of said contract.
I’d be amazed if the deal offered by Hull as rumoured is huge money that his dad wouldn’t advise him to take that kind of money if it’s on offer especially working under a coach of Cartwrights standing and if the idea is to build a team around him.
I just don’t think it’s as cut and dried as many think.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

If he doesn’t sign for Hull, it will be because he wants to keep his options open for the end of next year, if any NRL offers were to come in. I’d be surprised if Hull would be happy to give such a big contract with a clause at the end of year 1.
If he’s happy to stay in Super League for another 2 or 3 years then the biggest threat to Hull for his signature would be Catalans I reckon.
The lam saga and decision apparently due this week , is that down to lam or Leigh deciding or the rfl , who maybe have had to step in and decide what’s in lams contract and what he can or can’t do !

Are they now out the race for Lam?
Seems Catalans owner has gone off on a rant to the French media that at defeat to London is the most embarrassed he has felt in 25 years of ownership and hinted that changes will be made if they don't improve. Whether he means playing squad changes or McNamara starts to be under threat it's hard to say. May disrupt their transfer dealings either way
