Just because the Bulldogs don't rate he and he isn't doing great in the NRL, that doesn't mean he wouldn't do well in SL.
I believe Croft was heavily targeted for criticism in the NRL too - he has gone OK over here. I see enough in Flanagan's game to see that he would go well over here. Controlling half, never stops trying even when things are not working
I wonder if players ask for this clause the club could put a financial release clause (like football clubs do) of say 75/100/150K or something similar as compensation for losing the players early, I imagine that sort of money would be classed as small change to NRL clubs but would be a lot for the game over here.

Not sure any NRL club would be willing to pay a transfer fee and in any case the player/players agent would refuse to have a such a clause included in the contract.
Basically if a player wants out he's gone and I can see this becoming the norm in future.
As far as the NRL are concerned SL is a development competition.
