So. With the Lam interest, we have and are the only team to table an offer to him. Apparently it's a huge huge offer.
Is this a case of offer him a deal we are confident he will take it as is reported.
Or is it a case of let's show our interest make it publicly known so our fans think oh look we're showing interest in class players, with the knowing he won't really come anyway?
I hope it's the first one as it would be a class piece of recruitment this!
It could also be Lam using us a bit like his dad did to get a better deal

We could get in to a bidding war with a player who might not even be available. There's no point in throwing all our eggs in one basket waiting to see what happens when other targets are slipping through our fingers.

I'm a Leigh fan, so there may be some sour grapes to this, but if I were a Hull fan, I'd be wary of signing Lam, simply because of how keen he is to play NRL at the earliest opportunity. If you do sign him, you'll have to do a better job than we have of making the contract watertight, given the form of his agent (and him).
What I'm not sure of, is who ultimately decides on the dispute between the player and Leigh? My guess is the RFL will transfer his registration, but then the independant body might be called in to decide on whether a transfer fee is due.
I would imagine that he will be leaving Leigh for a SL club, and frankly, given the goings on, probably for the best that he does leave. But will it be worth the hassle for his new club, especially given he'll be fishing for an NRL move after one good season.
Don't see the point in signing lam, exactly the sort of player we need however he's made it clear he wants another crack at the nrl, given that there's another franchise coming over there I realistically think he'll go in 2026. So don't see the point in investing so heavily in a player thats not going to be around long

Love it when opposition fans come with fair and rational responses rather than just point scoring. I agree with all of this, hence why I wouldn’t be looking to move Truey on.
My preferred option would be Asiata & Abdul sharing the 13 role and us to look at a winger/centre who can carry out of backfield and get us on the front foot. Forget about the prop at 13.
A ball playing 13 duo like Abdul/Asiata would allow us to give Moy the fullback gig and let him play his natural running game whilst he can learn to make that killer pass

Abdull wouldn't be able to cope with the work rate to play LF. In today's game LF is a much different role to the past.

I'm not sure its simply a case of the agent trying to up his deal at Leigh as there'd be better and more affective ways of doing that. To activate a clause and get into a contractual dispute is a pretty heavy situation to get in to just to upgrade a deal at a players current club. As the bad feeling and resentment it creates will affect the club as a whole. This is a totally different situation to that of his Dad.
I'm not sure we will be successful in getting him but stranger things have and do happen.
With any player in such a pivotal position there is always going the risk in the possibly they are drawn to the NRL if they have been in good form due to the monster that the NRL is and the money. That's an issue you'd have with any such player a la Clifford, so shouldn't be a negative as its either a younger player wanting to try and get a crack in the NRL or an aging player just wanting to top up theor retirement fund.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!
