I don't disagree with that at all. In fact IIRC he often played at hooker for us.
I think the time spent in NL1 was also good for him as it allowed him to develop his game under less pressure for instant performance than in SL.

In terns of what is realistically available my order of preference would be:
1. Matt Orford
2. Brett Finch
3. Michael Witt (option now gone i think)
4. Nathian Fien (not a natural 7 i know)
5. Terry Campese
6. Danny Brough
7. Luke Robinson
8. Chris Thorman
Although anything after option 5 would be dissapointing
