As part of the ‘special measures’ for taking the funding advance they can only register 1.2 million pounds worth of player on the salary cap until the takeover if fully ratified by the RFL. The owners at Salford claim assurances have been made, debts paid off and all paperwork has been submitted for this to be complete. You can kind of understand them being annoyed if it’s the RFL now dragging its heels, but these things just have to take time from a legal point of view, it’s not the RFL who left it 2 weeks before the season to buy the club.
The new owners obviously have decided not to risk injury of players etc if they won’t let them field their best side. I just don’t understand it though as the 1.2 million side they played last week was decent. Brierley, Cross, Marsters, Macdonald, Nikorima and some first team forwards. It could have made a decent fist of a game on BBC. It looks to me like Salford are being awkward to ‘prove a point’ not sure what it achieves though really.

Wonderful game last night, Wigan and Leigh in an almost perfect defensive masterclass, really enjoyed this, a referee at last who allowed the teams to play, a shame about the glitch with the clock in golden point.
Hope mr Kendall our regular ref for some reason, can emulate last nights official, and both teams can play the game without the usual melee, and perpetual interference.
Well played both teams last night, and good luck in France boys watching from the sofa.

You can’t watch it from the sofa….according to some on here your not a fan.People have reasons for not going but get slagged off on here.

They’ll say it was justified as you’d think the RFL will now fast track it or whatever to avoid the same embarrassment for the Leeds game but still the wrong way to go about it IMO.

When you enter the forum arena, you must be prepared for criticism, rightly or wrongly, if you can’t accept this, then possibly don’t participate.
In a way I think it may be good for us that kendal is reffing (other than he hates us ) as catalans are the 2nd worst team (dobbins worst obviously) for cheating, lying on, rolling around feigning injury, waving their arms about appealing for penalties and just general shiithousery. Hopefully he clamps down on it when they start
