At Warrington on the Bank Holiday Monday after the Wembley Widnes draw, he came out with a cigar. He passed it to Arthur Bunting as he took the field. Arthur lit it for him as he came off at half-time and passed him it back. He had a blinder.

Could now be 3 or 4 weeks, pain thresholds permitting.

So, optimistically, 1 or 2 matches.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

An excellent turn out from the old faithful, showing their appreciation for Toms endeavours for us, he’s a really cool guy, and an ambassador for the game, Schofield could learn a lot from this young man.

I believe this season we’re going to have to grow into it, no point in being to despondent, it is what it is, and some valuable experience will be gained by others.

I agree Rider its going to be half a season for us but fans wont pay to see that.Opening games with positive results are important especially for fans to buy into the wave.Realistically if we do go 0/3 or four not only does player confidence go but so do the fans.
Fash and Brown worked hard yesterday but teams are not going to be shaking in their boots coming up against Bowden,Fash and Brown in our front row.
We also have no credible back up at half back.McNamara had a chance to shine yesterday with another pre season training behind him but is far too slow and if he stays with the club will end up at nine.
Hodgson is doing it tough with all the injuries to key players but the club need to go out into the loan market for at least a front row with some size.

Often went over to the Threepennies to cadge a fag whilst a goal kick was being taken, would often turn up for Saturday games with fish and chips from Crimlis's and sit and eat them in the changing rooms before the game as well. Dane O'Hara even wrote letters home about him starting "You'll never believe it but .... What a character and yet what a player!!!!

I’ve already paid, among thousands of others, it’s a labour of love watching your own team, you carry on believing, hoping, wishing, it’ll wear you down, but give you so much pleasure, and just sometimes give you moments to remember forever.

A bit harsh on Macca, Gale missing half the game, and up against two very experienced Australian halves Sezer & Austin, behind a pack very much dominated.

Some fair and valid points made in both posts. Have to say on McNamara I agree with both of you in that as Bonaire said he didn’t exactly shine out there yesterday, his kicking wasn’t the greatest when lumping in the air to far giving Leeds restart on the 20 instead of being a little smarter or clinical. That said as you say Rider without Gale or any other recognised hb to partner him and pretty much no forwards he was always going to struggle and dare say even the most experienced HB’s would under those circumstances. Thought Gale when he was on looked the best HB out there and it’s a positive move forward for us having his guile and tactical ability hopefully we can keep him fit.

At some point questions have to be asked about our recovery/fatigue management with this level of injury especially before a ball has been kicked in anger. A situation this dire can’t be chalked up to bad luck. Long season ahead.
