Like Powell and Agar before him at leeds you've really lost it when as a coach you publicly call out your players efforts. Ah well, like warrington, just sign more players, it couldn't be the coach that's the problem...

That was a performance that screamed Sack The Coach. Cas players were just getting waved through the line. When that happens there is only one solution. Hodgeson has to go.

That won't fix the problems though. A new coach has an impossible job getting this lazy, indisciplined rabble looking like a professional sports team. But Hodgeson obviously can't do it so we need a change at the top before we can change everything else.

Shaun Wane is the sort of no nonsense coach we need.

Fully agree with your first paragraph, and if that's the case the players really need to take a look at themselves. They might not like/agree with/respect the coach, but they need to wake up and realise the effect that has on the fans. They're disrespecting 10,000 people who turn up to cheer them on, spending their hard earned wages during these tough times to pay the wages of players who don't give a poop. Keep that up and crowds will drop low enough that we really do struggle to survive as a club.
So yes they may have problems with our coach (if rumours are to be believed) but if they really are that defiant and unwilling to put the effort in they need to grow up and realise what it is doing to the people who fund their wages and long term what it is doing to this club.

well all this certainly does make very interesting reading and it seems that we have all come to the same conclusion in that there is a malaise and culture at the heart of this group that has manifest in the very DNA of the team. It appears that it is one that engenders an attitude that win or lose their jobs are safe, that the next game is just another week, and an attitude of almost 'who cares', ....well we do!!

But it almost seems to reflect an attitude of bugger what the fans think or feel as the paying stakeholders of the club, we run the show. That's hard for me to say because I love this club but its what everyone really is thinking deep down isn't it? For me only a really tough uncompromising coach who is no respecter of reputations (A very salient point for me) can change things and our current coach simply doesn't appear to have the ability to do that.

Its gone on for years. Our previous coach was simply part of the problem being allegedly appointed after the players decided they wanted him as coach and lets face it he often looked to be too close to some of the group throughout. many of us who witnessed a certain play off game felt that the senior players even 'got rid' of the previous incumbent (Peter Gentle) who was a great coach and a good tactician but who found the power base within the club alien to what he had experienced in the NRL, the sort of player power that wielded the influence within the playing group at Hull FC, he once told me baffled him.

I rake over all this for one reason and that is that there is only one constant that runs through all these times at our club and that is the core group of senior players.

Look at what is constant on the staff since 2016 in a string of seasons when as long as we have enough points to stave off relegation and thus ensure continuity of players tenure in Super League, we have seen the same thing over and over again. I conclude myself that coaches have come and gone, assistant coaches have come in, changed and moved on, (with the exception of Yeamo who is a very small part of the operation now but how we could do with 17 Yeamo's out there at present!!) so what is the constant through so many identical seasons? Well what we have left is an owner who has financially saved us from oblivion and who desperately wants success if just to keep the paying public happy, and several players who are seen as the senior group and thus appear to dictate the culture within the wider squad. Houghton, Griffin, Connor, Tumavive, Taylor, Shaul, Bowden, Sneyd have been the constant through all this and so perhaps we need a much bigger clear out than we have seen so far at that level and a new coach who is uncompromising and no respecter of anything except consistent passion, endeavour and wanting. That is all the stake holders out on the terraces want for their investment but after season after season of jam tomorrow the club will be in a real hole without the input from those fans who walked out with 20 minutes to go last night.

As much as he can Dan Tomlinson in the Mail hits it on the head when he talks of the DNA of the club being the issue, heaven help us if Wakey Toulouse and Warrington put in a sudden surge for its hard to see this lot winning again this year. Sorry about the rant but like Chris and a few more on here this is heartbreaking for many of us.

The worry for me is that the attitudes of the mention senior group starts filtering down to the young local lads who are doing so well in the academy league this year. Part of the new set up is getting these lads involved more with the first team so I am just praying that this younger group has a whole different mindset and desire to the majority of the current first team.
When Lane signed his new contract I said I think he will be a future Hull FC captain but he now looks a shadow of how he started the season and seems to be another one who barely looks interested, but he's probably not that arsed cause he knows he's got another 3 years secure at the club.
Going back to the academy though I do like Shenton and what he's doing is brilliant to see, I just hope he keeps these lads working hard for each other and with the right mindset and attitude.

Well said Wilf, I agree with all of that, the players treat us like mugs. If only Pearson had gone with Ian Watson and cleared the entire coaching staff out, unfortunately Pearson didn't have the stomach for that which was our loss. Brett's is too nice a guy to do what is required. The lack of discipline from FC has to be sorted and quick, we'll have another raft of bans for Toulouse next week and I seriously doubt we can go there and win. Another promising season petering off to mediocrity.

I'd love us to be mediocre right now. Sadly we're way below that

Hindsights a wonderful thing but when we appointed Hodgson we
should have cleared the backroom staff not just Last & Radford.
Purtill - what does he do?
Ellis - dreadful. - Regular 60/70 point pastings under his tenure, Our passive defence / line speed
has been shocking for years. Surely you don't have have to be Einstein to sort that out.?
& the number of tries opposing wingers score is frankly embarrassing.
Conditioning/ Fitness - IMO we are probably the unfittest team in the comp, which is possibly
why we get so many injuries, & i would surprised if Smith is match fit after being out for a few weeks
but will be chucked' in next week anyway.
If we lose to Toulouse I like others can't see us winning another game.- (Squeaky bum time? & disappointingly the end
for Hodgson?)

I said it a few weeks ago that the players arnt just buying into Hodgsons style at all , I think thats pretty evident with the recent hammerings we've seen . Another big defeat next week and I think he'll go .
