I’m not going to shoot down young Charles as he came on and had a go, but I can see why Smith would be hesitant to play him every week as physically he’s not there yet, hence tanginoa isolating him and running over him for our 2nd half try.
I think when trueman is back you will see him and hoy at 6 & 7 more often then not. Don’t want to ruin the kid now, and thinking he can have a run because of an ok 20 min wind assisted period could be grasping at straws. You only have to look at how stavely started vs his last game. Very difficult to maintain.
What helped Charles is your forwards actually started running straight and hard. A 4 of Pele, Ashworth, Ese Ese and let’s say Jack Brown should be doing a lot better than they currently are. Add in Sao it’s a pretty big pack but it’s not getting you in positions enough to do anything about it

Is he the one Smith is protecting when he says it’s hard for players to play when they’re getting told they’re useless on Social Media ?
I’d love to manage this team I really would !
You’d need to bunker down and banning all social media would be a first step
Okynbur had a hand in 2 of the first 3 tries - very lazy with Brown at acting half for the first try and the Evalds break of tackle was disgusting and the winger attempt to tackle Lewis was a joke
The players are choosing not to work hard That’s an easy one to solve
Any basic man manager can solve non production at a work place
That’s what I did for a living until retiring last year
These are just young men at work who’ve got a useless boss and owner
Many in this forum have worked at places like Hull FC and know how to solve this issue
Well apply for the job. It’s always easy to coach from a keyboard. We’ve been sh*te since 2017 so it’s clearly deeper than our superficial analyses on these forums. So whilst some of the weaknesses we can all outline maybe valid it’s the ‘culture’ issue that needs addressing. TS is actually having to do it publicly. Even as a seasoned coach he may get some things wrong but if it is as easy as people suggest on here then we would be winning. I was pleased there were no red or yellow cards, there was go forward, some useful youth, some recovery in the second half( ah but Rovers eased off- can’t please anyone) Need to get behind the club because that will help too. We have no cash, not the best squad but luckily all the fans know the answers so the future is bright. TS has a tough gig -no choice but to support him

To be fair too the forwards, the play the ball has been a mess, hooker slow to get there or very slow to pass the ball out, its allowed oppo teams to stifle us, looked far better when nu brown went to 9 and tidied it up

Watched it again, don't ask me why, Brown certainly sped up the ruck, but needs to do better defensively, theor 1st amd 3rd try was his fault.
Just don't Ockunbor, workd really hard defensively, but just want the ball, 3 hit ups all game is shocking.
We still have a big unbalance with who dies the work in attack our backs who actually particularly strong do far too much work with Sao and Ese Ese going alot of work, whilst the rest of the forwards do very little.
Ashworth, Ockunbor, Pele amd Lane need to do more work with the ball.

Just had a look at some stats and surprisingly we had more tackle busts than Rovers and also less missed tackles. Our missed tackles are much more crucial. They're directly leading to trys more often. Nobody else is making a cover tackle if somebody misses. We only had 3 play the balls in Rovers 20m zone, whereas they had 33. Gave ourselves no chance

FWIW Without Houghton Rovers would have hit 50. Charles was one of 3 players that looked good for Hull. Brown saved 3 tries and at hooker looked ok. Ashworth is a hand full but the rest of the team are atrocious.

I assume it’s like those football games where the home side is up 5-0 at half time and we’d all think this is gonna be 10-0 but ends up finishing 6-1
Ill watch but rather to see how young Charles kid goes etc
I get you are unable to admit, due to the pain that Rovers are a very good team, improving all the time under a brilliant coach but getting a high from these shortsighted comments do nothing but show how painful it is to see Hull as a bottom 2 team.

Will he be still brilliant when he hasn’t delivered a trophy….your nowhere near the level of Sts or Wigan,Warrington have already done you..Catalan are a better team so your stuck in the middle teams as for us…yes we are a bottom 2 team but not long ago you wasn’t even a S/L team but got to your heady heights by rebuilding and we will as well….so don’t get to cocky pal as it doesn’t last at all.You choked in a final and then got a absolute battering in another semi final…end of the day mate…no matter where both teams finish in league,it’s a results business and we will both win nowt.At least we have won something in the last 39 years

I really enjoyed watching young Jack Charles when he came on, for a scrawny little kid he was full of confidence, coming on when your teams getting dry b#mmed has to be hard but he was straight in, trying to make things happen, he's still too lightweight to play every week though and will get targeted in defence too, but he showed that cockiness that good halfbacks have. Okunbor, what can you say.... Scored his first try and got 5 phone numbers from that young dance troop so he had a great day lol Seriously though he needs a rocket up him, he's too passive and laid back for this sport, he did really well to get his try but for the rest of the game he was anonymous.
As for the game, forget the final score, forget the second half revival, that first half showed just where TS has took you, you look unfit and that leads to a lack of line speed and indiscipline. You need a massive preseason, get the team super fit and you'll be competitive, unfortunately though TS likes an easier approach to preseason.
Wigan, Saints and Catalans would have cricket scored you yesterday, they wouldn't have gone away from the game plan like we did second half, we obviously don't have that mentality yet but I'm hopeful we'll get there.
