I stand to be corrected here if I've got this wrong, but I think we've only won four home play-off games in the SL era?
Think our wins have come against Bradford (2006 to reach the GF), Huddersfield (2007 &12) and Catalans (2013) which is fairly slim pickings to choose from!

Seem to recall the Catalans game in 2013 was played in a torrential downpour in front of what I would describe as a 'sparse' crowd (can't remember the attendance). The whole night felt a touch downbeat and that was despite the fact we won!

Either way, it would be nice to see play-off rugby at the stadium once again, in the not too distant future hopefully!!

I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

Certainly be a new feel to the place across the board..As FC supporters we can only hope. But I do think we will be a lot better and can see us around 6/8 . place. Hopefully see a couple more signings to.

As you say mate, 'it can't be worse can it' If it is, we'll be watching a season that ends with played 27, lost 27!! (surely not! )

I do feel, like you, that we need to draw a line in the sand at this point. We can't change the mistakes we've made over the past 6/7 years, what's done is done to our eternal detriment. What is now important is how do the club go about making a start on repairing the horrendous damage inflicted on the club by numerous personnel over recent years.

I think Myler and Cartwright (as DOR and head coach) need to instil an attitude through the club that encourages continual improvement in all aspects of the club's operation (on and off the field). Everything else will follow on from that (better performances and hence improved results) but until those foundation stones are put in place we run the risk of repeating the same errors of the past.

I agree with you, that from the first day back at pre-season training, Cartwright (and Myler) need to emphasis this is a completely fresh beginning. We start again from scratch, from the bottom up, and let's go from there.
My worry is that, as Wilf alludes to in his above post, far from Cartwright changing the mindset of Hull Fc, this indefinable 'cancer' (to quote McCrae) that seems to be embedded in the club, ends up destroying Cartwright! and he returns to Australia a broken man!!

Richie Myler and John Cartwright are now, probably, two of the most important people our club have ever employed in all of our long history. The task has fallen to them to reflate this club and change its direction of travel, starting from the opening game next year. Someone has to, and quick, before we slip into permanent oblivion.

I'm personally hopeful that we have reached the bottom of the curve and the fightback starts right now (I'm always hopeful, it's what keeps me going!!) but the fresh start has to commence from today or we are truly doomed!
There's a tremendous amount of work to be done to put the club back where it belongs, let's hope JC (he certainly has the right initials to carry out a resurrection, that's for sure!) is the man to kickstart the fightback. We have to back him, we have no choice but to do otherwise.

Just 4,970 there that night. I was there!

This was on the back of the dismal nilling at Wembley, a narrow win over Wigan's academy and a home thrashing by Saints. We were in the play offs but realistically had no chance of making Old Trafford.

Compare that to the 16,087 against Bradford in 2006, an actual semi final to get to the Grand Final, played whilst the opening night of Hull Fair was taking place next door.

That was probably the best night we've ever had at the stadium. Everything was shiny and new, the team was actually good and the atmosphere was electric.

The fact Moore sent that up as a try means this game is only going one way

Rovers deserve the lead but that's never a try

Rovers absolutely bossing it - can't deny they deserve Old Trafford and the title next week. Warrington have barely had any ball in good field.
