Game time and shop window doesn't seem a very likely motivation, given where he is in his career. Play a few more games for the club you love and and hopefully leave them on relative high note to pursue other business interests... feels like a no brainer to me.

Also, if he is still SL quality why not just accept he's now poor value but can still do a job if you'd be paying the above-value part of his wages anyway? From everything Pearson has said, it seems reasonable to assume you're not massively constrained by the salary cap for 2023. I mean, if you get a fee for Connor, I suppose that may change things.

Some fair points MR, I think their are a couple of reason he could go, longer contract and more chance of playing regularly, but I tend to agree I can't see him moving that far away, as he has too many business ventures in Hull, maybe a club he could commute to would be a better option. I think he will stay at Hull and try and earn a new deal for that he needs a big start to the season, keeping injury free is key.

Think it's more likely to be either Shaul or Griffin going if anyone.

I think satisfied is the right
Outs: Bowden, Gale, Reynolds and Mau and Johnstone
Gains: Sutcliffe, Hoy, Dwyer and Trueman.

Hard to argue that with the exception of Ma'u the players a big upgrades on paper.

If we can sign a player to replace Ma'u, then i'd be happy with the squad for next season, which should see some improvements and challenge for the top 6.

Squad should be better for young players gaining some valuable experience last season and ready to step in if needed.

Injuries as ever are key.

Holmes is free to leave Wire and had talks with Leigh  good pick up for them if true

Longstaff looking for a loan deal out of Wire.

Longstaff looking for a loan deal out of Wire.

Wonder if we will look to just get him on loan again for a full season and then sign him to a proper contract once his time is up at Wire (1 year remaining?)
Alternatively, Smith might not even be a fan of him anyway and while Hodgson might have wanted him Smith may have other ideas.

As it stands, we probably don't have the cap space for Holmes, I'd rather use our non fed place for a backrower than sign Holmes, if we managed to get some cap space.

You would have to be disappointed if Longstaff was available for a year loan and we didn't sign him.

I thought we'd signed him tbf. I'd imagine we'd be front of the queue, like you say unless Smith doesn't fancy him.

Id hope so, along with a more experienced backrower too.

Just seen Levi leaving, big blow for them, I thought he was the best hooker in SL last year, very tough but dynamic too, beat us more or less on his own, towards the end of the season. Peats is Ok, but not in his league.

I would've like Holmes too, but that might boil down to our lack of cap space.

Agree on Levi, Peats is 32/33 too

Savelio and Cator will feel like "Gains" too compared to this year, as will Tuimavave. If Smith can sort out the discipline we might not suffer with 30 odd matches missed through suspension either.

True, Mrs B, hope they can both stay fit particularly Savelio.
