Agree, it's a ridiculous rule. SL will be packed with even more average overseas players hindering the progress of young prospects. It'll suit the clubs who are unwilling to invest in their academy's and frightened to give youngster's an opportunity.

The quota is only enforceable by agreement with the clubs as it cuts across employment law so if most want to do it then it's hard for the RFL to push back but we could potentially see 10+ overseas players in a team/squad which is way too many. Even 7 is too many IMO. I know we're 11th and keep losing but we've only had 2 or 3 overseas players in games this year which has exposed younger players to more SL than we'd expect. Pros and cons with doing it but overall I think they'll be better for it

I was hoping for a reduction in overseas players over time, not an increase. But,.it's as mentioned above, it's probably a sign of how poor the talent pool is. I think increasing will hinder the youth, which looking across the board is looking like more sides are going down the youth route. Wigan and saints are obviously the standouts. Wire and FC are.making massive strides. Leeds have a few trickling back in as well as Catalan,.cas and Hudds. Could be the beginning of a.golden generation in this country if the pathways aren't blokes.
A lot of the other sides such as Salford who only survive on cast offs nobody wants (that isn't a dig at all ) KR, Wakey (if they're up again next season) throwing money about like it has no meaning (again not a dig) not going down the same route. Leigh I believe have been granted permission for academy set up now, so that'll take time and money to get up and running.
So not a good move for me, invest in our own academies, our own players and as I said look at reducing overseas to 5 in the next few years

quoting FC and wire in the same bracket you had to play the youth as james clarke and co signed nobodies

you've just singed john asiata who's got a massive injury record on mega money, brought in zak hardaker and co, coming to the back end of careers, signed cartwrights son who has a known foot injury, and offering lachlan lam more money than french is on at wigan
jordan abdull who is currently 3 stone overweight, has a massive injury and on a huge 3 year deal
do me a favour
