I think Mrs B is right. AP will have set out expenditure and revenue forecasts at the start of the season and will be loath to throw these into turmoil this early into the season. I think there is an argument to be made that AP could have invested some of the cash he's put into the squad into a new coaching setup at the end of last season but he did recruit Purtill, which was one of the things many on this forum were calling for for some time. As for challenging I don't think that's realistic under the AP regime. As Mrs B has said the turnover is too low and AP doesn't want to put the club at risk by over stretching.

As someone stated last week, what is Purtill actually doing? In the pre season behind the scenes footage, it is still Andy Last doing the attack drills.

We have one of the largest salaries in the competition yet play like a side at the bottom. 8 wins in our last 24 home games, numerous defeats of over 50 points, with the squad we have then what is being dished up is unacceptable. At what point is enough enough? It’s not just the way we play it’s the interchanges, game in game out they are a joke.

The one and only time we had all our top salary earners out on the pitch together this season, do you really believe we looked like a side at the bottom?
We may have one of the largest salaries in the competition (I don't know whether we have or not), but when a lot of it is sat in the stands, then it makes it tougher for us.

That's fine. I'm similar, I don't agree with most of what some posters say.

Think I have a similar mindset to you, and giddyupoldfella pretty much the opposite of every view I have.
He states when we had our strongest side out we played well (I assume he means against Leeds), and yes, we did. But squads win titles, not starting 13's.
Saints were missing key players and still play a style that any player can fit into - even if it is out of position (Bentley at centre for example)
Wigan were missing players too, but have squad players that play with intensity, desire and aggression which people like Matongo need to look at.

So let's talk about Saints missing players. Just 3 weeks ago they had some top players out and were nilled 19 nil, by an apparently very poor team that need to sack their coach.
How did Saints get on at relegated London last season, when they were without a few of their star men? They got beat.
And you give Wigan as an example. This time last year, Wigan were bottom of the table. Guess what their fans were saying? That's right, sack Lam.

Yet they won the league!Q They rotated their squad, and had injuries all season, and you have picked 1 game!! We have had this dross for 3 seasons!
