I agree with you but it wont happen unless Houghton is injured Houghton/Dwyer is likely to be coaches choice

Think Tony Smith will surprise you. Houghton’s at the club because he invoked his right to another season. It’s costing the club £10,000 on the cap, doesn’t mean he’ll play.

Rightly or Wrongly, I am at a stage now where I am happy to point the finger at the past coaching regime for why standards have slipped in previous seasons. Plenty has changed, the players have nowhere to hide now, it has to be the kick up the backside they have needed for about 3/4 years. Leeds last season were a fine example of how a new coaching set up can provide a quick and impressive turnaround in results. I also do believe the squad as a whole is stronger, a younger, more balanced spine is the vital change.
I do agree, we have read it all before, and its what happens in the season what matters more, however I believe there is legitimate reason to be optimistic about the year ahead.

Like Bonaire I'd prefer and hope that we go with a Lovodua/Dwyer combination at 9 rather than Houghton, I'm sure Houghton will get some game time but think it may be limited. As Armavinit said its likely its only because Houghton activated the option he had on his deal that he is still at the club. Don't get me wrong he has a been a very good servant to the club but we need more from someone at 9 than just tackling. Having a Lovodua/Dwyer combo would mean the oppositions defence get no rest bite with the pace that they can both play at and certainly gives us much more of an attacking threat in that area.
Following all the articles, interviews and quotes since the arrival of Smith its clear to me that there were serious issues under Hodgson and a very unhappy/demoralised and disjointed team as a whole with no accountability anywhere. Smith certainly seems to have made changes and made players no matter who they are accountable and responsible both on an individual and a group/team level. This will only be a benefit to the club moving forward and in terms of improvements in performances. I think the days of seeing the same old faces each game day 17 just because of who they were/are are in the past and it will be more a case of perform and you're in, under perform and you're out, it should be that simple.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

A good article/interview by Dan Tomlinson which is a very open and honest assessment by Josh Griffin on himself, it would certainly seem to explain a lot too. Think it again also shows the big problems within the team over the last couple if years and certainly under the last Coach.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Griffin performs in the 2nd row as it seems that is now his position under the tenure of Smith. He certainly has the size, strength and speed to play that position and if his attitude is right and he has that desire and enjoyment back them he could do very well for us there.
