Thought we were pretty dumb near the end of the game, Sneyd had better options than the one he chose, Danny Houghton needs to inject himself more in close games like these, refusing points on offer also came back to haunt us.

Not too many errors for an opener in th owe conditions. Better quality than any of the derbies last year. Rovers will get better. Without our 1 and 9 and 2other first teamers and 8 derby debuts, 5 club debuts. With the injured players we might have our 60 on you. Here's to 13th time lucky Jake.
Not bitter at all. I have no expectations this season and expect us to lose more games than we win. The game was a better spectacle than any of last years derbies due to the new rules but skill levels on both sides were poor. If you want to convince yourself otherwise go knock yourself out

What would people change going forward then?
Obviously Connor will come straight back in at 6. I'm hoping this doesn't mean that Washbrook will drop to the bench and push Litten out. I thought Litten looked really busy and we had our best spell of the game when he was at DH.
Paea may as well have not bothered. Barely even noticed him, and on the rare occasion that he did carry the ball he was totally ineffective. Little bit disappointed with how Masi carried aswell tbh, although he put a few good shots in in defence.
In fact I thought our pack struggled as a whole. Taylor made decent yards as he always does, Manu looked strong early in the game and I thought Thommo had a dig, but he always looks best when he can put a bit of footwork on and it wasn't the conditions for that really. The rest were pretty ineffective. Mini and Hadley barely bent the line all night. It was only the hard work done by Faraimo, Griffin and Tuimavave that kept us making yards and getting in good field position.
Sneyd played really well and showed what he can do when he takes on some of the creative duties rather than just playing the organiser. I also thought some of his work from first receiver was excellent and really opened up the field, but it was mostly wasted by Washbrook who just didn't have the quality to take advantage of it. But I am encouraged about what might happen when he is reunited with a proper half back partner.
Dawson Jones had a shaky start but ended up having a decent game. Took his try really well and made some good contributions. My personal preference would still be for Miloudi on that wing, but if Radford sticks with MDJ then I won't complain after tonight.
In the short term, unless Paea seriously picks his game up I would be dropping him for Levy or Fash, and when Bowden and Green are back he wouldn't make my team anyway. I also think that when we have everyone fit Minichiello misses out aswell. Good pro though he is, he just doesn't offer a threat any more. At least he kept hold of the ball last night.
After the game I was gutted and felt frustrated about the performance, but after sleeping on it there were actually more positives than I was expecting. Ultimately we just need to create more, and we will be a decent side. Let's hope Connor fancies a big game after letting us down this week.
Preferred team for Cas:
Shaul Faraimo Griffin Tuimavave Dawson-Jones / Miloudi Connor Sneyd Taylor Houghton Masi Manu Minichiello Hadley

I think Westbrook has earnt his place on the bench for the next game, Paea has one more game,
Only change for me would be Connor at 6 and Washy on the bench with with Lane or Thompson missing out

Not really, we could go on to lose the next 5 have to replace our coach and entire squad. We will never have those at the top of our club refer to ourselves as the little brother. We will also never be in the championship or get relegated whilst you win the challenge cup two years on the trot. We probably will never lose 6 in a row to you either.

You may be right. It would be harsh to drop Washbrook, he didn't do anything wrong last night, just not his position. But as I have already said I want Litten in the team, and I thought Thompson was one of our more effective forwards, so that leaves Lane, and it would be tough to leave him out aswell.

Watch again and you'll see Griffin gets drawn in. He's the centre. By getting involved he is out of the defensive line. He could have simply let Crooks do what he wanted and kept the defensive line intact. You note the try was scored because McGuire only had to draw in our winger
Why not just make your point?
