I don’t get the fascination with Mitch. He’s a a decent squad player but ahe isn’t exactly on his side and we have so many bright sparks in the academy who should be blooded. Obviously hard to know who should be kept without knowing their cap value but for me:

Definitely Keep:

Hoy - Fans claim he’s not interested but seems to be the only fullback in league who’s having to take hit ups in his own 20.

Clifford - would be unreal behind a good pack

Swift - works unbelievably hard, age isn’t on his side but hopefully we can replace from within over the next few years.

Sutty - similar to swift in terms of work rate and can be replaced from within over next few years.

Trueman - obviously not had chance to show himself yet but still a good age and British half’s are few and far between.

Cator - should be a good squad player, high work rate and cheap on cap.

Wynne - got wheels, aggression and should be cheap on cap. Needs to work on controlling his passion a bit and I’m not sure if he’ll ever be a top SL player but wise to keep around

Brown - great age and has so much potential but get the impression his mentality/work ethic needs some work. Would’ve liked him to get a good loan move as seems to have stagnated.

Keep it finances are right:

Savelio - unreal player who id love to keep at club but injury history has to be a concern. Another one who his work ethic is a bit of a concern from what I’ve heard. Likes to be babied by physios and can’t be left to do a plan by himself.

Sao - plays big minutes, mobile and versatile. Needs a bit of work on discipline but with a stronger pack he’d play under less fatigue and have to do less.

Ben Mac - not 100% sold on him yet. Can catch & pass but how much influence does he actually have on a game… limited. Still a good age.

Scott - just doesn’t seem to kick on, had so much potential and not reaching it yet. Comes across as a professional with a bit of versatility and not a bad age. I’d keep him as a squad player if cheap before youth can step up.

Fash - another steady squad player. Should be around the 21 most weeks but will never be a top SL player. However what he lacks in talent he makes up for in endeavour. Plays big minutes, high work rate and good tackle efficiency. Should let players around him excel in a good side.

Satae - you don’t become a bad player over night but seems to have lost a bit of dominance. He’s an impact player who’s probably playing too many minutes right now.

Dwyer - rocks and diamonds player. Unreal going forward but I’m not sold on his defence at all. Id like to see us recruit a more rounded hooker and then see how Balmforth has progressed.

Carlos - what a man. But he’s not hitting the standards he should currently and has an injury record.

Griffin - probably one of our better players this season. If cheap I’d give him another year as we don’t want too much change in one go.

Rest of the first team Id happily let leave. Lane is the big name under contract I’d be wanting to move on. Maybe id try send him out on loan for a season to see if he fix up his issues but he appears to have regressed.

We need.

2 back rowers (if we keep savelio)
3 props (if we keep Sao & Satae)
1 hooker (if we keep Dwyer & balmforth steps up)
1 winger (on top of swift & mcintosh)
1 loose forward
3-4 championship prospects

12 new players in with the likes Staveley, Balmforth, Litten, Gardner, Laidlow, Armstrong, Martin & Wacokcoke stepping up into the squad

Mitch did more in the 15 mins he was on than the rest did in the full game, he was the only one who ran it in hard and made ground. We won't get rid of the players we need to in one off season it will take a few years to get the balance right in the squad, I'd let Sao and Satae both go, they seem to have become a part of the lazy culture at the club and I'd only keep one of Fash or Cator.

We have far too many small forwards who just get pinballed around and don't make ground, I wouldn't mind of they got a quick play the ball but they don't, we must have one of the slowest play the balls in the league. We need to try and emulate what Warrington have done and get some size and pace in the team.

Mitch will be 29 next season and won’t be first choice centre of winger, for me id just like to see us take the plunge and rely on our youth and invest the money somewhere else. Fash and Cator are squad players who shouldn’t be in a 17 at the same time.

My concern is the talent available on the market is extremely poor. I genuinely can’t think of too many available that can fix us up. If I was to take a punt I’d go:

Forwards: Ashworth & Norman (doesn’t exactly scream top front row). Then I’d look to see if we could somehow tempt someone like Ryan Sutton back if possible (but he seems to play)

Back row: 2 NRL players please. Id take Sione from St Helens. Id consider James Bell from St Helens as well but he’s another efficient player and not really a super star

Hooker: Daryl Clark is the dream but so unlikely. I’d settle for Leeming & Balmforth

I’m a huge fan of Arthur Morgue, no way he leaves Catalan but I’d give it my best shot. His game is by no means perfect but he can split a defence open.

I’d also maybe consider Gildart. His defence can be sus but a good SL player and had few years training in NRL. Didn’t he also say something about Ellis been his hero or something.

I think what's available on the market is the main problem, there's not much going especially over here. Then you've got the other clubs also looking to recruit, which will mean probably paying over the odds to even sign players just shows how difficult it will be to recruit. Youth is definitely the way forward and we seem to have a very good group coming through, they just need the pathway to the first team.

Matautia is going home or he'd be staying at saints, bell brings energy but again is small. Clark again I can't see him leaving Warrington, we'd be maybe best looking at what Salford have done getting decent players from the championship (if there are any).

Just playing fantasy mucky kebab swap, looking at your squad.

On the youth side, I’d divide it into two groups.
1: Scott, McNamara, Brown and Wynne who are 21-23
2: those with squad numbers 24 and above, excepting Shaul, Taylor and Dwyer. I’m sure there’s some great potential in there, but apart from Gardiner they’re all teenagers (a couple turn 20 soon).

In the short-term you know that the first lot can do a job if needed, but they probably don’t shift the dial. The second lot are very green, and it’d be a big gamble to rely on them. To me it feels like anybody in a specialist position you could realistically swap out, would mean having to recruit for the same position. That might be worth it just to freshen things up, of course.

Paul Cooke played for the West side of the City from 1999 to 2007 then controversially moved across the River to the east side of the City until 2010.
Cookie is a rugby league legend in the City of Hull respected by fans from both Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull.
Cookie would be a good appointment for Hull as head coach . He has the credentials to turn Hulls season around.
The Hull chairman needs to act quickly luckily for Hull Wakefield Trinity are keeping them safe but with 20 out of contract players and a disgruntled fan base who speak of turning their back on the club financially the club need to take action.

I don’t know which bit of that to laugh at most but thanks for cheering me up with such comedy gold.

I think Billy the dilly has some sort of chip on his shoulder when it comes to Hull, maybe it's Matthew Shaw just cut and pasting his articles on here.

You are joshing but Cookie helped us win a trophy. I'll remind you what one is "Trophy, a cup or other decorative object awarded as a prize for a victory or success".

He shafted us got his dream move to Rovers and err shafted you at great expense. I seem to recall.
