The main stumbling block for this would be the challenge cup. Very very unlikely but you could end up with the reserve grade being drawn against the 1st team. Pretty much a pass through to the next round.

You’re right, for the last 4 seasons, the reserves would easily beat the first team.

Just don't enter them in the cup, it's not compulsory to compete in it.

Was going to say something similar.

Reserves sides should not be included in the cup.

What we are trying to create is a competitive league for the reserves and league 1 teams.

I might be wrong but aren't there some Premier League reserve/U21 teams present at some point in the football pyramid?
If so, it's definitely not an idea without precedent.
