Not long got back from the game after a long drive back to Scotland, so I am only just having a proper look at all the comments now.
A few of my observations from the game:
Shaul was very poor. Drifted sideways way too often which ruined a lot of promising attacks, by the time the ball finally got to Griffin or Fonua they just didn't have any space to work with. Also, I have no idea where he was for their try that came from the kick through. Swift made a mess of it, but there wouldn't have been a danger in the first place if he wasn't so badly out of position.
Fonua was a handful and showed glimpses of what he will offer, but he's woefully unfit just now. He could hardly catch his breath in the second half. It's going to be a good month until he is really firing imo.
The pack were a mixed bag. Taylor and Ellis both went ok. Jones tried but didn't have much success. Lane and Fash were ineffective. Bowden and Masi may aswell had not bothered. I'd be surprised if they made 5 carries between them.
Griffin and Sao were both excellent. Sao just seems to be able to offload whenever he wants to.
Kelly has to come straight back in. Its a no brainer imo. Given our current backs situation I would put Connor at centre with Fonua outside of him, but longer term I really think we need to be having either Kelly or Connor at full back.
It was a game we just never really looked like winning. I thought we played a little like Rovers did against us. Throwing it wide before we had established any go forward and Wigan found it very easy to defend. And I aren't sure why, because Wigan aren't a big side. It's not a forward match up that looked too difficult for us.
On the whole it was another poor performance and even with a few back next week I'm not sure things will change too dramatically. Let's hope Kelly can spark our attack a bit.

Rely on Sky website reports for non televised matches. No highlights available for Aus.
Report tonight started by saying that Wigan came back fom 8-0 down to lead 10-8 by HT before then going on to say that wigan opened the scoring after 3 mins!

Wigan fan here in peace, thought your lads were solid today but offered very little in attack, for all the quality in that back line there’s no creativity on the edges. Your main problem imo is Shaul, he hasn’t got a clue on when and how to join the line and the difference between him and French was night and day. You do need a new coach though I think

Out of interest did anyone see what signal the ref gave when he awarded Wigan the penalty after the scuffle?
He didn't look like he was going to penalise Houghton, he was happy that he was just being trapped in. Then it was Farrell who instigated the brawl by shoving Houghton at the PTB. Of course Griffin shouldn't have come in like he did, but surely the first offence was by Farrell and it should have been our penalty? Was the penalty eventually given for interference by Houghton or was it Griffin that was penalised?

Firstly a magnificent effort from the travelling Hull fans outstanding, bravo. Do you think Wigan can reciprocate this support thank you. Josh Griffin, outstanding, Ligi & Gaz warriors.
If Jordon Lane releases a straight forward pass we walk in 14-14 different ball game, if Jake or Mark finally realise, in goal kicking is percentage wise much more rewarding than aimless high kicks more points will come from pressure.
In a very entertaining game, we were beat by a Wigan side who looked fit and fast, not a rubbish team as described by an earlier poster. Fonua is improving every match, and as with Swift produced some excellent stuff amongst the ordinary, it’s very early days, this result is not the end of the world, yes it does highlight our second string forwards are behind the eight ball, but with such quality to return, we’ve no worries, plenty of doom and gloom on here from the usual suspects, but that’s to be expected on this board. Referees no comment you had to be there.

Video of scuffle includes Hick's voice during the incident. OK with the the ptb so went on to the scuffle and in discussions with his assistants said Farrell was the instigator in the scuffle with Griffin and both would be sent to the sin bin with a penalty to Hull . Signaled 10 mins each with his hands as he could not find his yellow card!

I don't agree, yesterday we had 3 of our starting pack missing and we matched Wigan upfront for most of the game, we had as much territory as them, they were more clinical and some individual defending was poor, Hastings and French were the main differences yesterday.
Our attack is awful, our haflbacks and FB have not been good enough so far this season, with maybe the exception of the first game.
I wouldn't renew Shauls contract and if Kelly leaves I look to sign a 6 from the NRL, use Connor or Wynne at FB.

Based on what, radford said Carlos nearly made last week.
Jones has been solid, not hit the straps yet, I'm confident he will come good though.

Wigan had 5 kids in their starting pack and bench plus mitch Clark who wasnt deemed good enough for hull kr. We will come up against much better packs this year
